[QUOTE=GARY;76552]Dennis....To hunt with a bow..doesn't make one a bowhunter....as much as a guy that pays someone $20K to shoot a genetically created 200 BC buck makes him/her a deer hunter.

        $25,000.00 Grant to LSBA

Ask them if they would be willing to make a $25,000.00+ Donation/Grant to LSBA to promote & protect Bowhunting in Texas

Sort of restitution to the Victims

What!? They're against high fences and breeding now? That's it, I'm emailing The gun manufacturers and the makers of high tensile game fence.

Dennis thanks for keeping this on track. Joey looks to me like you've got some good questions here. Good thread.

I haven't had the computer time to read through ALL of this, but.... as far as Joey's question of
Would the LSBA be a possible organization that might see support either monetarily or by promotion through their media (tv, website, journal, extravaganza, etc.)?
If they do offer assistance, why should the LSBA turn it down? Isn't this what everyone on here has been asking.... For TTHA to stand up and support bowhunting? At what point would you all recognize the new leadership is sincere? I would encourage everyone to think carefully before they slam something that could be the best solution for all involved.

Humm, not everyone is looking for ANYTHING from TTHA!
1.) Is the LSBA in financial hardship? I know we are 'relatively" small but I did not think we were broke.
2.) As far as sincerity from the new leadership; that is totally there homemade problem. I should not be asked to spare them, support them or coddle them because they made humungous faux paux!
3.) "Best Solution for all involved"??? Once again, we have not had there committment in years past and WE are still here....i.e., LSBA! The EC will have final say, not run of the mill LSBA members like me. But to be "bought off" and then call it "what's best for all" is not what I am willing to lend my name out to.
4.) The cartoon was hideous and has given the ANTI's a ton of ammunition for the future. The apology was just OK by my standards and apparently the majority of THBers, but to add insult they submitted the apology to the wrong freakin website!
Do what you will (LSBA) I am and will be a member but losing focus of what this really is about does not help "bowhunters" in the long run!

I have a question for Gen. Sysco. You may word it any way you please but here goes.

Why TTHA accepts millions of advertising dollars from so many ranches and land owers who are destroying the Texas ecosystem and reducing the habitat of the free-ranging, native white-tail population(and other wildlife) by high fencing 1000s of acres of private land every year here in the state?

What might his answer be to that?

It's agriculture that has destroyed/is destroying habitat here in TX, across the U.S., and worldwide. Specifically today, poor ag practices that aren't conservation oriented. Suchas, overgrazing, wholesale clear and plow, lack of erosion control, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with agriculture; I love to eat!

Please tell me you are kidding about most of that above! I don't think high fences are a habitat issue either; since they tend to be large enclousures.
BUT, if it was not for U.S. agriculture 85% of the globe would be starving today!
Clear cuts, overgrazing, erosion control are issues that were addressed after WWII and into the 70's in this country. Forester's actually plant more trees than they harvest, but it is a issue in undeveloped countries. Overgrazing in the major cattle producing states is minimum but it is still a issue in undeveloped countries. Is 1 acre too much.....YES! But it is not near the levels we saw in the US in the last generation. Erosion is what caused the "dust bowl" in Oklahoma....we have not seen that type of destruction since that time frame. I saw some of each in China & SE Africa but to be honest they are SLOWLY changing there ways with help & $$$ from our government! Bottom line, Europe could not even exist without our agricultural assistance!

Oscar, that is the problem. Have you noticed the amount of high fence that goes up every year around the state? Those areas are now inaccessible to free-ranging deer and any other species that cant fly. There are thousands of acres of habit being closed off to native free-ranging species every year. This isn't a problem in other states because of the vast amounts of state-owned land. Texas in approx. 98% privately owned land. See my point.
