Clear cuts, overgrazing, erosion control are issues that were addressed after WWII and into the 70's in this country
    has destroyed
it is a issue in undeveloped countries.
saw some of each in China & SE Africa
    and worldwide

Have you seen Texas land that is nothing but pencilly mesquite and pear on one part and good producing cropland/pasture on another part with just a bob-wire fence between?
I have. I own some like that. It's from mismanagement. I'm not too proud to say that.

But I will say the deer, oppossum & raccoon's live pretty good in our neighborhood!!
They have a pretty cushy life in the West Austin area, too.

        Texag,
You do have a point. I just doubt that 50% of the rural landowners will ever high fence 98% of there rural lands....but then again I am not in South Texas and don't see what others have to contend with.
I will say if I read only TTHA I would surely believe the whole state was high fenced already. Or as some say "out-closures"!
Just thinking outloud, there are foxes, deer, squirrels, turtles, racoons, oppossum, etc inside of those high fences! (Humm, could be a little in-breeding going on!!) I digress....anyway.....I am not a expert on any of this high fence stuff but I know it is a HOT debate as well as it should be for various reasons!
Between high fences, feeders, TTHA, on-line hunting, PETA, trad vs. compound we have enough issues to keep us busy into the next millieum!!!!

Absoulutely right sir, I remember in a Range Management class I had we saw thousands of acres like that......BUT in the huge, big scheme of things it is considered very little as compared to our forefathers! The best thing is that you own it and CAN make a difference for the next generation of hunters, ranchers or farmers! Owning bad land is better than owning NO land at all!!!
