...some of you guys absolutely amaze me.....Rick is a bowhunter but to hell with him too....him being there was scheduled MONTHS ago...but who wants to consider that?? The only "grandstanding" I see now are those that want to use this incident to continue their personal vendetta.....but if that brings you pleasure, by all means, carry on. I'll avoid interrupting with things that others share with me since they may not be of interest to the sword wavers...all those that have PM'd me, thanx (no luck today at the lease, maybe tomorrow!)

DENNISOMFS.....the way you stand up for the lowlifes at TTH is wrong! How can you even think about standing up for them! If you are a bowhunter then you should be appaled by what they done instead of making excuses for them and supporting them!

I read an article in the TTHA magazine a while back that was critical of the growing costs of deer hunting in Texas.
My question(s) would have to be:
Does TTHA have any position or influence on the rising costs we are seeing for leases and or trophy deer hunting?
          Followup:
What are the expectations of TTHA regarding young hunters who may or may not be making $15,000 a year with a family to support?

You guy's can edit the questions for sure. I just see a lot of young people that simply can't afford to get in the game.

I honestly believe that the TTHA is one of the reasons for the growing costs of hunting in Texas.

Come on, guys. If Gov. Perry shot his bow at Bownanza, would you call it a load of crap or grand standing? Let's not shoot the messenger.

If the Governor came to Bownanza to shoot his bow I would put on my old military gear. My kevlar vest and helmet would be my best friends again!

Heck, my checkbook ain't big enough for him to show up at Bownanza. I am sure donations will be collected and starting at $1,000.....he ain't even running anymore? Good fit for TTHA core crowd though!!!!
Actually, i thought it would be pretty cool for him to be there supporting hunters by slingin an arrow!!!

Dennis....To hunt with a bow..doesn't make one a bowhunter....as much as a guy that pays someone $20K to shoot a genetically created 200 BC buck makes him/her a deer hunter.

You're too quick to slam folks on here for disagreeing with you. It's their right. It's obvious your a friend of TTHA (or their leadership), and it's noble you're defending them. Others, not as close to them cannot yet see what you think is so obvious...

Personally, I look forward to the new ownership moving away from the past few 10 years of history...the key is....will they. The cartoon says, not likely...but I will give them the chance to recover.

Ask him what TTHA's definition of "fair chase" is. Does TTHA support October as bow only season. Should the purpose of deer management permits be to kill trophy animals in October with a rifle? If not, then why are so many of the trophy animals in his magazine killed using LAMPS permits in October? Would they support legislation utilizing LAMPs permits in October for does and spikes ONLY?

As for the comic itself, ask him why they have someone drawing comics, who is neither funny, and draws like a fifth grader. Is that the "quality" his magazine represents?
Oh yeah and ask him when they are going to run a cartoon of a fat bald guy with a stogie in his mouth and his rifle in his hand posing by his "Trophy" which he didn't kill? Oh yeah forgot that was an actual "trophy" story they ran.

Dang Paul...I thought for sure that you were out of town.

Request for questions is closed. I am working with many of these questions above and a few of my own. Thanks everyone for posting your thoughts.

I now have a question for you guys concerning this question...

Would the LSBA be a possible organization that might see support either monetarily or by promotion through their media (tv, website, journal, extravaganza, etc.)?
We could find ourselves in an odd position here. On one hand, it would be almost negligent not to accept any help that TTHA would offer in promoting the LSBA, bowhunter education and bowhunting. On the other hand, inevitably, someone will blast the LSBA for being "bought off by the deep pockets of TTHA" if we accept any such help.

I can tell you that the elected EC members take the trust our brothers have placed in them very seriously and this is an item of concern. Please, let us hear what side of the fence you'd be on if this type of help is offered to us.

If the TTHA wants to give the LSBA money then take it!!! I wouldn't consider it being bought off. I would call it taking advantage of a situation for the benefit of all texas bowhunters.

Not really give money, but help with promoting the LSBA to it's members in the magazine and at the Extravaganzas. Promote bowhunting education in the magazine and maybe even future TV shows. Maybe help us save a little on the publishing cost of our own magazine and free up some of the current budget to go into promoting bowhunting and the LSBA in other ways.

From TTH, I would like to see a longterm commitment to working together to promote bowhunting, bowhunter education and the LSBA as the legislative voice of bowhunters in Texas. I guess what I'm asking is, how would this type of relationship be viewed by the LSBA Membership?

If the TTHA were to help promote bowhunting then that would go a long way to forgiveness. However it would also take more than a one time gift! Probably the only way for me to ever forgive them would be for the TTHA to support a long time relationship with the LSBBA. If they would only do a one time monetary donation then the LSBA should recieve it.

I really wish that the TTHA would promote bowhunting in Texas, but I won't hold my breath about it either.

The LSBA will always have my support and money untill the day I pass from this earth. If anything were needed from me I would be happy to help in any way.

I see no problem if TTH were to promote the LSBA but as stated more than a one time token promotion. Would they expect the promotion to be returned though? I would have a problem with this and not because of the cartoon. My problem with it would be LSBA promoting a for profit organization is all.
