I just put new tires on my truck, last Friday (Discount Tire).
Left there, and when I got up to 60mph, the steering wheel started shaking.
Drove it straight over to Driver's Auto for an alignment.
Took it back to Discount, Saturday morning for them to rebalance them.
Left, still shaking.
Took it back a second time, Saturday afternoon for them to balance them a third time.
Left, shaking worse than ever.
They ordered more tires.
Went back yesterday and they put on two new front tires and ride matched them.
Manager told me that if this didn't fix it, that it was something other than the tires. Imagine that.
First thing out of his mouth was the alignment must be bad, so I informed him that I'd had it balanced right after I left his store, on Friday. He was confident that the tires were perfect.
Drove off, still shaking!
Went back to Driver's Auto to talk to them. Of course he said it had to be the tires and suggested that I go next door to a brand new NTB that had brand new, latest and greatest balancing machines and have them balance the tires. So I did. They pulled one off and spun it, with DT's weights on it. Not balanced. So the rebalanced all 4 and then test drove the truck. Came in and told me that it rode like you were on a cloud and there was no vibration. The offered to check the alignment for free. OK, go ahead. Came back in and told me that the left was out a bit. I told him to fix it because I was so happy that my truck was going to ride so smooth again. Paid them, left the store, got up to 60 ... SHAKING WORSE THAN EVER!

Called them while I was driving, and of course they want me to bring it back in.
I've been pretty pleasant, with all these people, so far, but I'm at the end of my rope. I want this crap fixed before the vibration drives me nuts! I don't think this is anything other than a tire issue because the vibration gets better and worse each time it's rebalanced. Where else can I take this thing to get it balanced by someone that KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING?
