I just don't get it. Work trouble.

At work I had a coworker tell me I care to much about my job. I shouldn't care as much. Are you kidding me!!! I was raised to have pride in my work and care about what I do. Is this what our world is coming to? I just don't get how people don't care about their work.

I guess I should just have the "I am here just for a paycheck" mentality.

Keep doing it your way. Some day when you're older you'll be proud of your accomplishments, and your coworker will be your former coworker and you won't even know what happened to them.

Maybe they just don't get as much satisfaction from the kind of work they do. It might very well be just a paycheck to them, but as long as they are doing their job well and they are not causing others to perform poorly, then their mindset is their's to have as they please. When it starts to affect the environment y'all work in, then they should consider moving on somewhere else.

Slackers that don't want to compete often try to talk achievers and doers into slacking too. That's the only way a slacker can feel like he/she is on level ground with an achiever.

            Keep up the good work.

For some people it's "just a job" and for others it our livelihood.

Caring about my job and taking pride in my work has got me where I am today.

Here's the scary part: it's getting worse from the bottom. This is my 27th year as a public school teacher, and I see that attitude in more and more kids each year as it relates to core-class grades and effort in extracurriculars. Seems their parents are passing on that same attitude to them... I fear it's making me be harder on my own kids, but they will grow up knowing how to work hard, be conscientious in their tasks, and how to fulfill a commitment.

25 years ago I started at a company where the president basically said look to the left and right. Those willing to sacrifice will be in a place that exceeds their wildest dreams.

25 years later I know three of those 25 very well and we've all done well above what we deserve. Many of the rest weren't around a year later and the other group have done varying levels of ok.

The worlds not coming to anything . . . . .laziness has always been there and initiative will always be rewarded in the long run

if all you care about is work...to the dysfunction of your family, friends and relationships...then I would agree with them. Go to any old folks home and ask them what their biggest regret in life is...and you'll see it's that they spent too much time at work...and not enough with family and friends.

                            Balance....

It was another supervisor that works as hard as I do. That is why I don't understand her telling me that.
