I understand the love of hot and spicy food. We spice up everything at our house.

Absolutely love spicy food. My son had me eat some ghost pepper salsa on the 4th. I ate 10 chip fulls before I had to reach for some water. That stuff hurt going down!!! BUT I kept eating it anyways.

Like I said, I love spicy food, even to the point of breaking a sweat but leave the stuff alone that will drop you to your knees in prayer.

        Like: The release of endorphins.
        The boost to the metabolism.
        The cancer fighting properties.
The relief of chronic sinus issues.
        The heart heath benefits.
        The pain killing properties.
The lowering of vein gravy (fights bad cholesterol)
        etc. etc.

In truth - it may have started deep in my lineage from some primal need to appear more macho. I really don't know. I do know that I like it and don't spend too much time thinking why.

Oh - And I hear it all the time about the "exit" of all things hot and the pain that causes. Full Discloser here - I've never had that problem. I never have any pain with food leaving my body.

But there was this one time - after a crawfish boil, lots of beer and a girlfriend from long ago. Yada yada yada. Had to put ice cream on her.
Read the same studies. A lot of truth there.

At a shop I worked at we had a stray dog that hung around the shop. All the shop hands would feed the dog peppers. That dog was there when I started and still there when I left 18 years later. I think those peppers kept him from getting worms and other stuff dogs get.

Deer eat the peppers and it doesn't bother them either.
