      Cuero, TX in 1968.

Dad & I slept in a 1963 Econoline van and cooked over a campfire.
I was heavily into Boy Scouts at the time and my Dad was proud of the fact that I knew more about camping and cooking over fire than his buddies from work.
I must have burned through 2 or 3 boxes of 30-30 bullets before I finally killed a doe.

      Great memories.

First lease was just outside Burnet. Tried to bowhunt for the first time there. Missed a few and killed my first little 8 point with a rifle there. Great memories of building stands and spending weekends with my dad. Swore I would never eat another can of dinty moore beef stew after that lease but now I crave it every once in a while.

Far northeast Jasper County just outside of Brookeland, TX. The lease is located adjacent to the old family farm that we still have. My grandfather started leasing that land back in the 70's and we still have the same lease.
Cool thing is, my grandfather has been gone since '87 and I still walk the same ground that he and I walked all those years ago.

First lease was in Williamson county. I never shot a deer off of the place and we hunted there for a long time. It is now part of Sun City in Georgetown. We had some big deer on the place back then but I could never close the deal. There were a lot of memories made on that place.

My family were members of the old American Sportsmans Club and we hunted in Thurber and Pecan Springs (Coleman). I have many great memories of both places.

Started hunting with my dad when I was 7 in 1974 and hunted the Poole Ranch just south of San Saba. Two years later we moved to the 7up Ranch 7 miles south of Iraan. Big difference in hunting. Two years later we joined the American Sportsman club and started hunting all over Texas. My dad didn't care if the deer was a yearling or 7 years old. If he had a tag for it, he shot it. Never hunted with corn back then either.

Duck hunted all my early years and only deer hunted small family places or public land.

Got my first lease 9 years ago when I was 23.

ATA west ranch Crockett county. 40k acres of beauty and still hunt 22k of it.

Man my first lease was some great memories. 2800 acres in Sonora. I terrorized everything with my Daisy BB gun. Killed my first buck there.

Wasn't my first but Juno, Tx was the best I ever hunted. It had to be the mid 60's till the mid 70's. Fueled up and ate at the Juno store.

Grimes county near roan's prairie. Shot my first deer at age 6 there.
Lots of deer, few bucks. Lots of coyotes, no pigs in those days.

                                Big pig
