I'm no saint, I try hard not to "multitask" but still do on occasion.

So glad she's ok and we are not offering prayers and condolences.
They can pass all the laws they want but how will they enforce it?

The only way this will work is to mandate a device in the vehicle that will disable cell signal while the vehicle is moving. The smart thing to do would to still allow you to make emergency 911 calls.

It sucks that it will come to MORE government intrusion into our lives but apparently we are too stupid to regulate ourselves.

          Glad no one was hurt.
If it was my kid, heck no I'm not providing another vehicle, and if I'm paying her cell phone bill there's a good chance it's gone too. Hope she's not on your policy, but if she is its time she got and paid for her own.
I believe there's a big difference between helping your child and not allowing/not forcing them to step up and be responsible. 1st time, lesson learned. 2 nd time, its time to learn the hard way.

            Agree 100%

Glad she's ok. My 15 year old will drive soon so this hits extra close to home with me.

Someday maybe all autos will have a device that disables any cell or iphone inside the vehicle while the engine is running or in gear. Sure would save a lot of lives. That's going to be the only way to get control of this because kids won't listen. Remember, they are smarter than you.

I think there's an app that disables the phone, if it's moving.
Maybe you should suggest she installs it on her phone, for her own sake.

Glad no one was hurt. Just remind her that she's not a cat.

I posted this on another thread but a couple of weeks ago I saw a young lady texting at a light next to me. When the light turned green the people behind her had to honk to get her to go because she wasn't paying attention. She proceeded forward then got back to texting and ran into the truck in front of her that came to a stop at the next light. I actually got to watch the whole thing unfold. She was so into her phone that she was oblivious to what was going on around her. It's easy to see how people can run into a ditch or run a red light when their phone is their priority. I am all for a ban while driving.

I think we have a new idea for an app or an invention. Mike D, you might want to start getting a patent. That is a hell of an idea. LOL!

And to the OP, glad everyone is ok. I have 2 daughters and hope they dont text while driving. I will not be like most other's on here and tell you what to do though or how you should punish her. Hopefully, she learns her lesson.

I agree, Mike.....but don't say it too loud.

I don't know what the answer is to this deadly dilemma, but someone sure needs to figure it out.

This is supposed to disable a cell phone in a car not sure how it works but sounds Like she needs this.

Lol, that would be the most hated app ever!

The problem with an app is it would be a voluntary install. The only way it would work would be to embed it in the OS (and you can bet hackers would find a work around) or build it into the vehicle.

Ford has the Mykey feature which can put the phone in Do Not Disturb (blocks incoming phone calls and holds text message), However the problem with all of this still comes down to the Phone.

Phone has to be connected via blue tooth the same will go with any app, has to be installed and enable.

We lost a man at work just two nights ago that hit an embankment so hard he was ejected out of the FRONT windshield. Glad your daughter is ok.
