Don't want to take this too far off topic but With good self defence ammo a fast .223 will break apart and penetrate less than a 9mm pistol or shotgun. Great home protection choice in my opinion.

I don't own one. Never felt the need as I own several .223 rifles in both semi-auto and bolt action. My Mini14 fills the semi-auto niche nicely.

I don't but wouldn't necessarily mind having one. To me they just seem overly complicated given all the optional parts and accessories.

I am a proud owner of an AR-15, didn't own one until late last summer.

Never felt the need for an AR. Have several shotguns, including an 870 that stands by the bed fully loaded.

Bought my first pistol just last year at age 56.

I like to get real close! So I will stick to my shotguns. Until I get the money for a AR!

I think they are really fun to shoot, specially compared to single shot rifles. This one is a tac driver.

I see the reoccurring theme of "need" appearing in many posts and usually it is to justify not getting an AR.

Out of curiosity, what does "need" have to do with it?

Probably an overwhelming majority of people reading this forum will never kill any animal outside of the USA with archery equipment. For them there is no "need" for a bow that flings an arrow faster than 300' fps. You can bet that a large percentage are looking for that speed that is certainly not a "need" but can't wait for next year's models come out to see which company is going to push the speed envelope.

                      That is all..... carry on.

Have had 2 of them. Sold both. Uses to much ammo for my taste. Maybe if I get another one I'd buy a small magazine.

I do not own one. Would love to have one someday. When/if I get one, I want a left handed Stag Arms rifle.

Sold mine a couple of years ago. I'm more the sniper type than the pray and spray guy

Been looking for years but just have not found the right combination of deal, extra play money on hand and urge to drop the cash. I know I can get in the game on the cheap but I'd rather just buy one nice one and be done.

Camera gear, drones that film, things that go fast... guess it's not high enough on my want/need list. Meanwhile the safe is pretty full of bang toys.

I suppose I'll get one eventually.

I'd really like a LH Noveske. I love my left hand rifles.
