I wouldn't waste my time looking it up, I'm not sure Google knows.. Where'd you play college ball? I would have loved too, but I wasn't any good. I had a blast playing though. This is more of a retrospective thing. I just don't see where it has benefited me, and I can certainly pinpoint where it hurts every day.
I do understand, played at West Texas State and then SFA after WT's program was killed after my sophomore season. Was a graduate assistant at Sam Houston, great experience I wouldn't trade for the world, including the 3 surgeries.
Are you saying the game is for everyone?? Lots more folks in the stands than on the field regardless...trying to understand where you are coming from, unless a it's just a cheezy cheap shot @ the horns which is ok i guess??
Obviously it's not for everyone. And it's wasn't cheap, it's true...for now.
The other thread got me to wondering. I know a lot of people are dead set saying you get lessons from football that you can't get anywhere else. Someone enlighten me as to what they are. I played from 7th-12th. And I've worked a lot of my life.
I am seriously drawing a blank. I learned at a young age to be tough and not cry. I learned how to take the heat from work and the cold from hunting. So help me out here.
Discipline, teamwork, loyalty, putting the benefit of your team before yourself, dedication. All valuable life skills. Oh, did I mention true TEAMWORK?
It's hard to put into words but, the objective on every play in football is to knock the defender to the ground. The objective for that defender is to get up and do it again. The only other thing I know that is similar is life.
Obviously it's not for everyone. And it's wasn't cheap, it's true...for now.
you are crawfishing...why not stick to the op's concerns or keep the cheezy comments close?? How does "no wonder the horns are so soft" add any value to this thread??
You know well this has nothing to do with competetive football at that level?? Your delivery stinks.

Even when you know your opposition has an upper hand, give it your all anyway. Quitting never got anybody anywhere. It's fun to knock the snot out of people.
that aint no lie! there aint a better feelin! when you put your face mask into somebody's chest and drive them to the ground, flat on their back! when the back of their head hits the ground and their feet are still in the air! when the fans on the top row can hear the hit and the entire crowd goes, "ooooooo!"... priceless! aint nothin better than a big hit!
So far I haven't read anything posted that can't be learned in another sport. The Friday Night Lights burn bright....maybe they're blinding?
For the record, I very much enjoy football, but I try not to take a narrow view of the world.
I see pretty good (7 .10 pins) and have a pretty broad view of the world (actually voted democrat once... just once). Did you actually play or you just suffer from FNLE (Friday night light envy)?
Played from 5th grade up through red shirting my freshman year of college. I don't think there is anything I miss more than playing. I don't believe there is any specific life lesson that can be learned in football that can't be learned anywhere else. I do think it offers more lessons than any of the other sports by itself though. I've tried a lot of different things and wrestling/MMA is the only thing that has gotten me close to that feeling of physical competition that I loved getting from football.
For most people football probably falls under one of three categories.
No thanks, I would rather not get run over by that 300 lb giant.
Played because friends did and for the most part enjoyed the game.
Absolutely loved it and would trade anything to be back in pads again.

Me either. I think plenty of people are missing the part where I mentioned I played and enjoyed it. There is a lot more to life than playing sports.
not sure why it's a head scratcher...maybe I was more engauged with football than the other sports I played or that football is simply the most popular spectator sport here?? The crowd was part of the team with football & you do not see that sort of following in all the others. To compare football crowds to any another is stupid.
Yes, I'm becoming a soccer junkie by default but admit I GET IT why there are no fans in the stadium. It's not our deal like it is in other countries who you see go postal?? Really, people riot over soccer??
Watching soccer, baseball & basketball makes me snore compared to football. I'm not a sports nut & don't keep up with the sports threads here...but all I see are football that stay on the front page.
