calorie intake depends on activity. just depends on what your lifestyle and activity level is.

you can eat 10,000 calories a day and lose weight if you burn off 12,000 calories.

^^^^^^THIS is your goal Sir control/reverse your Diabetes for a better quality of life for you and your family. Not a number on a scale

I have changed my way of life for last 5 yrs. No more heavy beer drinking, eat better. I was 33yrs old 235lbs size 38 (Im only 5'8" so should be @165 per Doc) when I was told I had hi cholesterol, hypertension and was borderline diabetic and things had to change.

I stopped eating white carbs and went to wheat but that only helped some really was not all I need to do. After 2 years of struggle I got educated on Carbs and how they are in EVERYTHING not just bread and pasta. Also learned about good fats not just being in nuts and salmon but in tons of the foods I love.

Now at age 38 I'm 187lbs (Even lost 9lbs from Nov-Feb) size 32-34 and feel great. Cholesterol is almost normal by 4 points, blood pressure is normal and Blood sugar is good all with change of life style and eating habits never had meds my Doc said I was too young and just needed to change my ways.

When people ask what my goal is I tell them Normal levels for Cholesterol, blood sugar and BP. I have kids and want to be around to see their kids grow up.

I am trying to see how few calories he took in to lose that much weight I tried the low carb under 25 a day but ended up taking in 3300 calories a day. I did not lose weight or change composition. I try to eat 2400 a day to maintain and under 2000 when I wanna drop

From what I read on the internet it is around 900 for the diet.

I was using a app called Myfitnesspal to keep track. I was always under that. They gave me a "diary" to keep track of what i was eating. I stopped using both of them. But Myfitnesspal is really really cool app.

Just sounded like a nice even number. No reasoning behind it. But it really sounded impossible when i started.

To much protein from meats is bad. Need it from nuts and eggs.

I don't get the "diet" thing. Why look for a "diet?" Why not just eat right and get some exercise? That's how you lose weight and maintain a healthy weight for life. Seems like everyone I've known that went in a diet list weight and gained it right back after they were done with the diet. I list about 50lbs 5-6 years ago by changing to a balanced diet with reasonable portions and without tons of fast food and junk/fatty foods and more exercise. I eat lots of meat (especially game) and vegetables and limit at he potatoes and pasta and starches and I don't gorge myself. If I want seconds, I wait 10 minutes before I get them. Usually, I find that I'm not interested in then 10 minutes later - I feel full. If I'm still hungry, I'll eat more. Didn't happen overnight but I've maintained the weight loss and the lifestyle.

I keep seeing reports about how "unhealthy" diets and dieting are. I hope it works for y'all but be careful.

I picked a random day on myfitnessapp of Feb 16.

Breakfast - Ideal Protein Instant Oatmeal
                            130 Calories

Lunch - Ideal Protein Chicken a la King Pottage Mix 110 calories
                            & Rutabaga Fries 81 calories

Snack - Ideal Protein Lemon Wafer 200 calories

Dinner - Boneless BBQ Chicken Breast 200 calories & Brocolli 25 calories

Grand total of calories for that day was 746 calories

                            This is a typical day.

BTW if you have never given Rutabaga a try you really should. It is suprisengly really good. To me it taste like a seasoned potato. We usually make it into french fry shape or dice it like a breakfast potato. After we cut it we let it sit in some salted water for a little while or a long while. (im not sure if it needs it but wife says to do it so that is what happens). We then strain it and then put some olive oil, pepper, salt, sometimes onions. Mix it up. Put it on a foil lined cookie sheet at 425 for around 30 minutes.

                              Not true!

The only thing bad is the chance of a diet in HI saturated fats. You just need to eat lean cuts of meat. Red meat but loin cuts that are less fatty, white meat Chicken or Turkey, Fatty fish. Eggs are the worst because the yokes contain more bad fat than any meat I just listed FYI. So if you eat eggs only eat the white which is where most of the protein is any way.

Tried rutabaga. Glad you found a system that is working for you. I use fitday to track calories and I have found all diets that work limit calorie intake below what your body burns. Good luck on your goal sounds like you are almost there
