Neither shot ( quartering too or straight down) are bad shots for a qualified shooter. Which I consider myself to be

If pigs weren't so much fun to hunt, landowners across the state wouldn't have to deal with the destruction that's been caused by all the irresponsible "hunters" who relocated pigs across the state in the 80's and 90's just for recreational purposes.
To me, it's one of the more tragic stories of hunters who placed their own enjoyment or pocketbooks ahead of being good stewards of the land.
Anyone who thinks it's not our jobs as hunters to help exterminate feral hogs, shares in the blame.
Kill them all, I say. We'd only be doing our native wildlife a favor if we do.

I realize this isnt the norm these days so i consider myself... qualified, to take what ever shot i want. And by the way, an intentional gut shot is one of them

If you own the land and they are tearing it up then I wouldn't blame you for being joyful if you hit one back. We kill them and let the yotes have them. The one time we had one processed it stunk the house up when cooked and had to be thrown in the trash. However, I would love for someone on here to give a lesson on how to clean them yourself so I could give them another try on the smoker.Last edited by parkchief100; 12-03-2013, 12:46 PM.

Skin & quarter, placing meat in a cooler and keep ice on top while draining water for 3-7 days.
Smoke/BBQ however you please.
For a population control attempt, shoot the biggest sow in the bunch first, then continue to shoot at anything that is still moving until you run out of either targets or bullets. Repeat as often as possible.
