I had a local small gun shop mount and bore sight a scope for me a while back. It was way more than I thought it should be (supposedly they hand-lapped the rings in place and what not) and then I got to the range to sight in and it wasn't even on a 2x2 foot target at 100.

I have always used the method mentioned above where I just bag it, line up the bore by eyeball with a distant object and move the scope accordingly. The worst start sighting in I ever had was about 10" off.

I don't mean it to be condescending but I don't see why anyone would need someone to bore sight a scope for them....its pretty simple

NO..... DIY... Its easy. I bore sight with a piece of tape on the window in my gun room. center in bore, center in scope. Done.

I dont have time to be fixing others mistakes. I torque all my own screws and level all my own crosshairs. Hell I even shoot all my own guns

              Lol

Mr. Ben has always done a heck of a job on any guns I or my dad have bought from or taken there. Haven't made it in there in a couple years though

They don't have a good track record of hiring the best and the brightest.....

they usually hire the type that will break something because they can't just say they don't know how to do it, and then try to cover it up.

I wouldn't trust Academy to do anything with my guns or bow.

Whoever invented the bore sighting stuff is a genius.

I mean really. Look how much money folks in just this thread wasted on it already haha. Do it yourself!!

Dont think its a question of money or how ez it is to d i y. Matter of time, equipment and want to. Its ez to work on a bow. How many people take their bow to the shop for every little tweek? Why? Its ez enuff to d i y.

Ive never been charged to have a scope boresighted. I will tip the guy who does the work. Academy doesnt charge for it either. I dont think they will bore sight a scope u bought somewhere else. But they will mount and boresight if u buy from them.

Not a chance, there used to be one person beside myself that I would let mount a scope for me. He was killed a while back, so now only I will be doing mine.

No tools required. Takes an extra 60 seconds when your at the range before you shoot.
