Texas panhandle rut/hunting report

Yall have fun. I want to go kill a pig so bad I can't stand it. I have never killed a wild one.
Saw my dad kill one of our feeder pigs with a piece of 2" pipe one time. It kept jumping out of feeder skids. Lol

We decided not to take any does this year... But we also decided to let a young 2 year old 10 walk...he got arrowed last hunt of general season. so who knows, "we" will probably shoot a doe too even though our numbers are down and shouldn't. it's just a deer, and it was my brothers first deer with a bow after 4 long years... So I'm trying to be supportive, but it's tough knowing what kind of stud that deer could have been!

I on the other hand will be shooting pigs and coyotes soon... Maybe even a bobcat!

Hopefully next year he can be more selective. I shot a few younger small deer when I was starting out, so I'm not saying much... However I was 8... He's 21

Lol. I needed to vent that.

And no I personally won't be shooting any doe.

I know the feeling my brother shot a young 10 point that scored 140 he was 3 years old we both decided not to shoot that deer to give him another year here he brings him to the house

My son missed a doe but took out a cull 8. Great end to our season
The 6mm br with 80 grain speer hot core dropped him dead in his tracks at a little over 200 yards.
The evening got even better when we run into a friend on our way home who makes jerky and sausage. He took our deer so I didn't even have to mess with it when I got home. Can't beat a hunt like that.

I was thinking about it this year. I know macoop on here does. Just in the tpost round cages like you see everyone else feed.

Panhandle Boys...I'm bumping this to get us thinking about this coming season's thread. I really enjoyed all of the reports last season and we definitely need a sequel to this monster. However, I hope to start one a little earlier this year in order for us to share some of the early season preparations, field conditions, weather, animal movement, trail cam pics, and well, anything else, you name it! And that goes especially for the early bow season, but also for the entire season.

Anyone can take the notion to get it started, especially if you're out working on your place and have something to share. Otherwise I'll start one soon. Be on the look-out. Is it deer season yet? Getting a little rutty around here...

Was at the lease south of Childress today it is GREEN! Should be a good year.
