Do you have access to equipment?
The best way is to mow your plot first. If you have a deep breaking plow then run it as deep as possible. Fertilize, disk smooth and plant.
Are you planning on doing it this year. You are almost out of time to get wheat in. If you do it next year I would consider putting a couple of strips of peas or sorghum. Peas and sorghum will be ready at the beginning of bow season and give you something to hunt while the wheat is coming in. Peas and sorghum need to go in the ground in june and wheat in September.

I don't have any equipment up there. But am looking with money and beer for some help.

Im planning on doing it next year... The place we got on to put a plot we got on late... So I'm planning for next year already.

I bet you can find a farmer to help you. Especially since your offering beer. If you were in my area I'd do it for the fuel and beer.

I have a co worker that's right down the road offer to help. They have food plots. So i should be about to get him to help.

              That was funny.

My 8 year old asked me serious as can be "why are we hunting deer if we can't shoot the deer?" Pleading with me to let him kill a 2 yr old 8 pt.
I guess I was kind of mean yesterday. We are in a bow only big buck contest and he takes out his rifle in hopes of shooting a big buck. I told him if he is giving up his bow this early then he can wait for me to kill a big buck with my bow before he goes killing one with a rifle. I want him to kill the biggest deer but I want it done with a bow. I really want that carbon element as first prize.

Hope you do well! The deer seem to be moving better the last couple of days. Of course since I am back to work and can't make it out.

In the blind now. Camera showed pigs, turkey and doe. Turkey and pork are on my sons list we will see what happens. He elected to bring his bow so we are looking for his first bow kill!

Good luck. Foot surgery on Wed is keeping me out of action this weekend, but hopefully I will be back at it next weekend if I can find a way to keep my foot protected with this walking boot on.

Y'all keep us updated. It's killing me that I finally saw some buck movement and now I'm working nights.
I should get to go Tuesday and Wednesday. Hopefully they will be getting a little rutty by then.
