There are a few animals with "the void". Bigfoot, chupracabra and the black panther to name a few. Other than those the rest of north american animals don't have one
There's a huge void between a deer's front legs and back legs just below the belly. I know a lot of people that have hit that void and I guarantee that deer will live.
End of story right there.... how can anyone argue with the actual cut away? this is a terrific photo to show deer parts and their connections.
I can't point it out on the diagram that he posted because I didn't olok at it straight on down the spinal cord when I skinned the deer. If you look at the post right above or below your post, the actual picture of a deer with a scar, that is about the same spot. May have hit lung, but he sure didn't die.
Jason, I'm not arguing, actually learning, because I've always been of the understanding that there is a "void". Is the bone directly above the spinal cord, between the back straps, not at least paralyzing when hit?
I'd be willing to bet it could certainly shock the spine...whether it paralyzes them for a split second or not, I would think that depends on the individual animal and individual shot. I backstrapped a deer (complete passthrough) with an arrow and a loud crack. He showed no paralyzing affect...sum buck is still prob running
#1 the femoral artery runs the length of the body under the spine. To pass a broadhead directly under the spine and above the lungs without cutting it would be miraculous unless you are far back enough to hit guts or are far enough to hit the neck where there are no lungs

I agree with everything you (and the doc) said, but in the spirit of anatomical terminology excellence, the aorta runs the majority of the length of the body along/under the spine. The femoral arteries are in the upper legs - with the femurs.

There is no secret that I have always claimed this..
