My commute is 112 miles round trip, Cleburne to Springtown. Been doing it for 11-1/2 years. My commuter car is an '05 Chevy Cobalt with 235K on it. Wife bought it new and drove it from Cleburne to Stephenville to nursing school for 3 years. We've taken turns wearing it out.

I'm moving my office at the beginning of 2014 and my commute will be 0.6 miles.

(It's currently about 4 miles so it's not all that bad anyway)

        1 mile from work
        4 miles from the lake
        15 miles from my treestand.

My 2005 pickup has less than 35,000 miles on it.

When I was in Houston, it was 1.5hrs each way, 16 miles from house door to work door and I HATED every second of it. Moved to SA, I am 4.2 miles and takes me all of 10min on a bad day. I like being able to get away from the office and go home at lunch. Saves $$$.

I have been driving bout 63 miles one way from Yoakum to Point Comfort for some 20 years now!! Solo for round 8 or so, and car pooling the rest. I am SICK of this drive. Its 2.5 hours outa my life five days a week. The older i get, the more i ask myself if its really worth it or not!!

About 35 mi. one way but it's all easy driving. You do get used to it, but I still don't like it. Traded my beloved Tundra pickup in on a Golf TDI a few years ago for the mileage (17 vs. 42+ mpg) and I'm paying 1/2 my car payment each month with the difference in fuel alone.

Agreed on getting a cheap fuel-efficient car just for the commute. Used Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla is the way I'd go. But, if you have to spend 2 hours a day in a car, 5 days/week, it may as well be something you enjoy driving (which is why I got the VW).

Two jobs - first commute in the A.M. is from the bedroom to the office, approx. 25 steps one way. Second commute is about 100 yards by Mule to the dog kennel. Life is good!

I was driving 58 Miles each way from Magnolia to the south side of Houston, for about 6 months. That was brutal. 1 hr 10 minutes to get there, 1 hr 40 minutes plus to get home.... made it worse was the 14mpg my tundra gets... got a commuter car for a while, made it better, but the time sink was horrible... Got approval to work from home full time... now my commute is 15-20 feet...
