    Depends on the traffic conditions.

At least in my opinion, there's a huge difference in a 1-2 hour commute in grid lock traffic (i.e. Houston, Dallas, etc) as compared to a 1-2 hour commute in scenic driving where you actually travel decent mileage.

The gridlock traffic commute is much more stressful and nerve racking even if time traveled is the same.

I was thinking about this just yesterday. I drive 31 miles to work. I'm used to it though. Been driving at least 20 miles to wherever I had to be for about 14yrs. Drove 23 miles to HS my last 3yrs. Drove 42 miles to college 3 days a week. Drove 21 miles to work for 4yrs after college and now drive 31 so it doesn't bother me too bad. I don't have to deal with traffic either though and never have so that's probably why I don't mind. If I had to deal with traffic, I'd lose my mind!

Patrol car sits in the driveway, so my commute is 0.

that's roughly the same for me. i turned down a job in dallas which would have been roughly 40 miles 1-way and no telling how many hours per day in a vehicle. do what you gotta do, but no thank you. i drink enough as it is

84 miles one way. It took me about 2 years to get used to it. I did get rid of the 3/4 ton 4x4 and bought me a nissan altima.

Just over 40 miles each way. Live in Keller and work in Richardson for the past 11 years. Its not that bad and normally 45 minutes each way. I don't like putting that many miles on the truck and burning that much gas but I do not want to live on that side of the Metromess so its just part of the gig!

162 mile round trip daily from unincorporated Van zandt Co. south of Canton to Irving.
I leave home at 4:50 AM and get to work at 6:00. I don't have to be here until 7:30 but I would rather sit at my desk than sit in traffic. Mornings that early generally aren't bad. Afternoon, if I leave right at 4:00, I'm OK. If I leave just a few minutes late I'm screwed!

OH, and I drive a KIA SAportage to work. 30 mpg

53 miles per day round trip. Drive sucks but the Harley makes it a blast everyday. I save 280 dollars a month by riding vs putting those miles on the PU

37 miles each way and in a couple years when the new facility is finished it will be 50 miles each way. It sucks to spend that much time of my day in a car but its the price I pay not to have to live in the City.

36 miles one way (Wylie to Irving). 45 minutes in the AM, an hour to an hour and fifteen in the afternoon. It sucks, but I cannot complain about the pay. I hope to work 7-4 soon and that would eliminate tons of traffic.

My commute time depends on the light at the interesection and how long I have to sit at it before it changes. If I am unlucky and hit it when it's red, it will usually take me 2.5 minutes to get to work. About a 3/4 mile trip.

Oh and I leave before 6 so I miss most of the traffic.

Drove 106 mi one way for 14 yrs, you do get used to it but it still sucks. At least it was highway most of the way. I was able to learn a lot about deer body language while driving that many miles of deer infested highway.

62 miles round trip for me from west Fort Worth to Grapevine and back. I usually have at least one stop at my parents, church or to get my boy on my way home, so the 62 miles will turn into 80-100. After 10 yrs of it I've gotten used to it but when there is a wreck on 183 or 820 it really makes like miserable. I sat on 820 with it completely shut down for about 45 minutes last month due to a wreck. Had just passed the point of no return into the construction and it came to a stop.

Only tip I could offer is learn every back road and side street in between the starting and ending points. If you see brake lights, take the side streets. I'd rather drive 3-4 extra miles and a couple stop lights as long as I am moving. Makes it less boring to change up the route too.

Mine is 20 minutes: 5 minutes to the office, 5 minutes home for lunch most days, 5 minutes back to work and then 5 minutes home.
