How long did it take..

This is my 3rd season and hoping its a charm. I have learned a lot in the past couple of years on here and being out in the field. Hoping it all works out. I moved my stands this year, last season I got busted by a nice buck chasing a doe and knew right then I had to move the stand. Good Luck to All!

Pigs happened within 2 months of buying my first bow. 1st deer came 9 years later.

5 years ago, opening weekend, killed a doe Sat evening and my largest buck to date on the next morning - Sunday morning. Two deer the first time is sat in the stand my first year.

I had not been deer hunting in 25 years and only with a gun never a bow, I got on deer lease 9 days before the season opened went the pawn shop that night and bought a PSE Nova bow which is 18 years old now - still hunt with it and kill every year since I started 5 years ago. In that 5 years I have lost 1 deer that I could not find. I remember getting my bow and going to a bow shop off Beach Drive in Fort Worth and telling the man I needed 5 arrows and that I was going bow hunting for deer on opening day. He laughed and said good luck and gave me an hour free on the shooting range and cut me 5 arrows. Little did he know that I would shoot my first deer 4 days later. I enjoy bow hunting and watching Gods world come to life especially in the morning hours. I feel closest to God during those times.

It took me 4 seasons before i harvested my 1st deer. I shot and did not recover, a doe and a 6pt during those 4 seasons. Last yr was my 1st yr with mutliple kills and i was able to land an Audad, 8pt, doe, and 3 hogs. It finally clicked for me. A lot of trial and error before it did tho.

Opening weekend of 1985 in Liberty County, TExas! Then the next bow kill was over 10 years later.............talk about disturbing!!!

It probably will make a difference as far as time it took, depending on where you are hunting. Private land, Public land,Deer lease, high fence or wilderness can be apples and oranges as far as success rate. its all good.

I was very lucky the first time I went bow hunting I killed a 8 pt. That was 16 years ago been hooked since.
