How long did it take..

I was just curious about how long folks hunted with a bow before your first deer bow kill.

For me I started and then quit then started back up but since I started and got serious with it, it took one year for my first kill which was a hog. 2 years before I got my first deer.

Killed tons of fish and small game when i first got started shooting a bow but between my 4 years of college and 3 years of teaching/coaching and being broke it took 7 years beforre i killed a deer and it was a fork horn mule deer around Ruidoso NM

First year by sheer luck! I have managed to put at least one in the freezer every year since except one.

1st season. Hunting a very small piece of property in Ft Bend county back in the late 70s. A 4 point came by a creek I was hunting with 4 does. Drilled him in the shoulder at 25 yards. He didn't make it far.

I was 12-13 when I started bow hunting and no one I knew bow hunted so I had no mentors. It took about 3 years if I recall.

Got Lucky and shot a buck with my bow the first year.

Bought my first bow right before the season started. Shot my first deer the next season. Been killin ever since!!!

I shot a doe opening day of the first year! I'd rather be lucky than good any day! I will say my success rate has gone down a lot since then

This will be my 3rd year, second year seriously bowhunting. Hopefully I'll shank one this year. Mines more of a shot opportunity problem though.
