I will give you guys 5 arrows, inside a paper plate at 150 yards in two months. Not saying I am ever going to hunt that range but just because y'all said I can't or can't be comfortable just makes it even worse! All in good fun though!

Good luck with the 5 out of 5, I know I couldn't do it! As far as sights go, you will need target sights, which I do not like for hunting. I totally understand why you would like to shoot that far, and hope you can get accurate out to that distance, but for hunting purposes I would keep the same set up and get extremely accurate at 70

Long range targe shooting is funhunting with archery equipment is of the charts fun and is meant to test your ability to get as close as possible... Just my dos centavos...
I was out at the range about a week ago and shot my bow at both seventy and ninety yards... I shot six arrows at each distances and got all the arrows other than one within a 15 inch circle... Sight set to ninety I had about a third of my single pin HHA sight still to adjust and have no idea how far that would allow me to shoot... Shooting a highcountry bow at 80 #s... Note, i had never attempted target shooting over sixty yards previously... I want to go out to 100 yds at some point strictly on target shooting... Fellas I am not trying to stir the pot in any direction but I will say target shooting at that distance is fun

If I can get comfortable at that kind range practicing then a 40-50 yard shot will feel like a 10 yard shot.
you do not have enough bow and you are shooting the wrong broad heads for anything of the sort... if you just want to target shoot at extended ranges that is all good, no one will complain about blasting a pig at any distance,,,, but you are considering hunting game at very unrealistic distances,, that is not bow hunting, it is arrow slinging and that is the best thing that can be said about it...
I have the ability and do shoot at distances up to 200 yards,, for no purpose other than to do it because I can.... I understand longer shots on elk and pronghorn ,, but even those need to be restrained to closer than 70 yards,,, you can not control anything once the arrow is loosed,,,
and if your not capable of hitting those ranges now,, it would be a good time to consider why .....
because it is to dang far for any purpose other than for fun, it has nothing to do with huntingLast edited by xman59; 08-20-2013, 10:53 PM.

another option is for a drop down pin attached to the sight,, much harder to fix, and keep it steady on the actual site. keep in mind you will get a lot of arrow drop, something in the 7-10 foot range minimum...
third option is for a large berm or just a dirt mound for an arrow stop,, get a long pole paint bands around it so you can see them,, place the pole on top of the mound, pick a band and start shooting, when you get were your arrows are hitting in a general area, set your target there and work on site picture and trigger control,,,
my apologies for being a little harsh, but when you were talking about your arrow and broad head, the about the only way it could be read was you intended to hunt that far with that equipment.....
