checked mine 2 years ago and it was 269. I know it's bad but the doc said my good cholesterol was really high. I was SUPPOSE to try to eat better and lower it on my own but that didn't happen. I need to go get put on some meds I guess.
No sure right now probably betweem 350 and 500......Yep it is genetic and I can't really take the meds to reduce it. Everyone in the family has it and it does not matter what we eat. Mom was 5 foot tall and never weighed more than 110 pounds in her life....hers ran about 690. Most of the men in my family have a heart attack at arounf 65 or 70. Most live to be mid to upper 80's. I am sure I will do the same. I am 5'6" and weigh 145 and work out 4 times a week. Oh well there are worse problems to have.
I have to think to myself do I want to eat elk sausage and live till im 75 or so, or not eat any fat, eat tofu and non fat ice cream etc and live till im 90 or 95. hmmmmm

WOW!! Didnt know it could go to 690? So it not necessarily eating fatty foods. Interesting.
It is not for my family. Mom ate nothing but salid and vegi's for several years...mde no difference. I eat wahtever I want and have lower numbers than most in the family. We have a lot of Amaerican Indian blood in us and it makes a difference.

Can you explain the American Indian blood difference. My grandad is half-Cherokee. I know I cant drink, one beer and Im buzzing. What is the deal with Indians and cholesterol? thanks!
Personally I would be very hesitant about taking meds for high cholesterol.
I could go on a long rant about this, but instead if you are interested in an alternative to taking drugs that are pushed by big pharma and that 90% of the population is taking and doesn't need...
Check out the work of Dr. Joel Wallach, specifically "dead doctors don't lie"
Mine was 222 a year ago. Started exercising and eating better; now it's 142. My BP went way down too. Lost about 18 lbs so far and haven't felt this good since my 20's.

Just think vitamins rather than drugs....
Sorry, I just realized that reads like a sales pitch. It's not. I have nothing to do with this guy or vitamin sales in any way lol. I don't buy the specific brand of vitamins he recommends either. In fact I'm not trying to tell you to buy anything. Just some pretty awesome eye opening information that helps to show how big pharma keeps finding band aids instead of cures and that what "they" say is bad for is, is not necessarily true.

well dang....i was about to order from you. ha!
Will have to look that guy up. What vitamins do you take?
Extremely high doses of vitamin c and d. 10,000 mg of vit C and 30,000 iu of vit D and a decent multivitamin to cover the various other vitamins and minerals.
I don't actually have a cholesterol problem, but my father did. He was on all sort of meds but after lots of research he dropped them all. Eats only slightly healthier than he used to.
