I got pulled over by Sate Trooper couple of years ago on the east side of San Antonio on I10 for doing 94mph at night. I was coming back from Hunting, I put on the 4ways drove to the next exit , pulled into a gas station parkinglot. Tropper approached and his first question was why did I stop there, I said for your safety and mine, on 10 we both could get run over, to which he thanked me, I told him I had 7 weapons in the truck and 3 handguns, handed him my DL and CHL . He then asked me why I was in a big hurry and I said "well honestly the wife made a big dinner and I am way late because I stayed for the one last hunt, and when I am late she gets very B****Y " to which he agreed to knowing all about that.
He talked about hunting looked over my info handed it all back to me and said , Please Sir 65 at night and have a good day.
I thanked him and drove off...

Awesome guy and I definately appreciated it due to my speed. From what others have told me I was way lucky because the troopers in that area never give warnings.

So yes these guys are awesome and it sucks when we get pulled over but hey, we are breaking the law and they are doing their job.

I was told by a LEO off the record to never tell a officer unless he asked. Another LEO was standing there when he said it and shook his head in agreedment. Reason being was there are "some LEO's" that are not in agreement with CHL and it could lead to "other things". He told me it was non of there business unless "they ask".

Based on the way things are going these days i'm inclined to agree.

I'm glad the OP met a "great officer" and posted up. Tired of hearing about all the bad.

He asked someone to thank him for doing his job. The trooper pulled him over and shot the breeze with him?
I'm well aware of what put up with on a day to day basis.

I disagree. I've let every CHL holder off with just a warning. I have never heard a cop say anything negative about a CHL holder or citizens carrying.

He was saying thanks for being understanding. He could have gave Bryce a ticket but instaed let him go with a warning. Pretty good day if you ask me.

I hope and want you to be right about that. I always thought it would be a good thing to tell an officer upfront till I heard that, now I don't know.

My few experiences with troopers have all been good. ( even the one that wrote me a ticket-what can I say, I was speeding ).......actually I haven't had a bad cop experience yet. I just answer the questions and treat em like they are another real human being doing their job......they seem to appreciate that for some reason.....
