I. Checked my GPS the other day in calm winds and I got up to 3.4 mph. But that was seeing how fast i could go. This past weekend in choopy bay paddling against the tide and wind I was going 2.5 mph on a normal stroke. Not sure how that compares to other yaks of same size. Now my 110# son in his Pescador can run off and leave me,but that is not comparing apples to apples.Last edited by Bearkat; 07-08-2013, 09:29 PM.

Dan and his dad have designed a pretty slick system for the 360 seats. You'll have to see it when mine gets here. Hour welcome to ride out when I pick mine up and test what they have or run mine around when I get back with it.[/QUOTE]
Their system has the same problems as the original. It's heavy and it takes up space under the seat that you can store stuff. I don't have any pictures of mine but its aluminum tubing that hoops up and over with the swivel mounted on the tubing. Very light and you can put stuff under the seat.

It's too bad you don't live closer to me. All that stuff you've made out of PVC could be aluminum.

Anyway with the short pieces of PVC is very strong but would look better out of al. Also I have seen your seat base I believe posted on tkf or somewhere before and it looks nice. It raises the seat and gives storage. Not sure why NuCanoe is not using some of the ideas of owners to fix the seat issue.

I've taken the ocean kayaks out to the rigs for years and have had great success with those
What's the big differences?
I have fought bull sharks from the scramblers with loaded ice chest and no problems. Also Look up the ambush.. I can vouch for that one in 3-5ft seas fighting some monster kingfish and ling

Is this the swat base you are talking about?
I just ordered one as it seams to be the best option- especially for big guys. A little pricey but its a nice design.

I can tell you that NuCanoe is working on a new seat base design. The following link shows what others are doing with their bases.
I can't go to it from my work computer because it is locked out. If the link doesn't work because it is from my phone and is showing mobile then go to Nucanoe.com "owners" "Nucanoe forum" "rigging & outfitting".Last edited by Bearkat; 07-10-2013, 08:03 AM.

I'd like to see some pics of your base? Where'd you get it from?

They put a lot of thought into the fabrication and design and I like the fact that you have room to store something under your seat (tackle box?). As Bearkat mentioned earlier, there are a lot of neat 'custom' seat designs, but I don't have the tools, time, or patience to build my own.

I do not know about that base, but the quick connect base has same standard hole pattern as most boat seats. Keep in mind the quick connects comes with the seats not the bases. If you buy a seat from somewhere else you will have to buy the quick connects separately or buy some from academy or somewhere.Last edited by Bearkat; 07-10-2013, 11:51 AM.
