Get the Cooper's you saw on my truck yesterday and save yourself $400.

Of the tires mentioned in the original post, I'd have to agree with the majority and say the BFG. I'm running my first set ever, 285 70-17, and I've had them for 30k miles, and should get the suggested 50k with out any issues.

However, after this set of BFG's, I'll be going back to the Cooper Discoverer ST. I got better than 60k out of them and and they were a breeze to keep in balance. I'm not knocking the BFG, I just like the Coopers better.

What Cooper's are you running? I'm fixing to have to buy tires for my F350 and am in a similar dilemma. I've had BFGs before and really liked them, but I certainly wouldn't be opposed to running another tire, similar in quality and longevity for a lot less coin.

Not sure what they're called but it's a cooper mud & snow tread. got them at Discount in Cleburne.

If you're looking for an AT tire, look into the Cooper ST. They're very simialr to the BFG AT.
If you're looking for more of a radial, look into the Cooper ATR. It's a little less agressive, more of a highway tire.

I think that you would be pleased with either tire suggested. I too have sold tires for many years. I like the looks of the BFG TAKO but also like the life of the GoodYear Silent Armor. I have seen those last longer than the BFG's.

The Cooper at DTC to replace the zeons is the Cooper Discoverer ATP. Much cheaper than the BFG and has a good warranty on most sizes. Haven't had a customer say any negatives about them yet.

Just for fun, go look at the General Grabber. I just put a set on my dodge 2500 and love them!

I ran two sets of BFG AT's on my F250. The first set made about 50K before one developed a bubble and had to be replaced. The second set had a blow out on a rear tire at 35K that wiped out the whole side of the bed. $2K for the repair. No more BFG's for me.

I've had the best luck with Michelin on my F250

The silent armor are the worst tire I have ever put on my truck. I purchased the first set and only got 46k out of them with one being warrantied out. Second set was put on and warrantied out all 4 tires before I gave up and worked a deal with discount to replace with another brand. Every tire developed bubbles in the side walls and tread separation. One was made by the tire machine when I ha to get a patch put in one. They are junk, or at minimum not an all terrain tire as they are sold for.

                                1. Don't even consider the Goodyears.
                                2. I ran BFG MT's most of my life. Tried the AT's and hated them. I don't remember EVER getting more than 35k out of any of them, on any truck. And my last set of them was shortly after they changed the tread pattern on the MT's. Had nothing but problems with those. I was happy with the old tread pattern even though mileage life was short.

Decided to try Toyo Open Country MT's after doing a lot of research, much of it on here. Just put on my second set a couple weeks ago. Replaced the first set after 45k miles even though I probably could have gotten another 5000-8000 out of them. These Toyo's are simply a superior tire to the BFG's. I am running 285-75-17's on an '06 F-150 with a 4" lift. I get into a lot of pretty rough country, as well as put on a lot of highway miles. I know you didn't ask about them, but give Toyo's a look. Coopers ran a very close second choice to the Toyo's.
