    My Own Dog Bit Me!!

    Ok guys...sanity check time:

I give food & shelter and a loving home to this rodent looking creature called a TOY POODLE (I refuse to call it a dog!). My kids like him so I tolerate his existence in my home. However, last night....while trying to pick him up to go out for his nightly potty break, the little ____ hauled off and bit my finger!!! Drew blood!!!

Now.....I won't say here what my reaction was....I'm not real proud of it...but I'd like to ask the camp fire what YOUR reaction would be to such an atrocity. How 'bout it?

I am a firm believer in discipline. Unfortunately for you it seems that despite your affection for the poodle that you don't spend much time with it. I have a lab and a small type dog that my wife claims...but training for both was done by me. Regardless of who's pet it is..I want them all to know that I run the house.

If it were me I would help that dog understand on a daily basis who butters it's bread. It will take some time but I seriously doubt something like that will happen again if you spend the time to work with it.

You don't have to like the poodle to make it respect you...but it wouldn't hurt..

If your reaction was to "drop kick" it across the room, then we would be in good company.

...time to get the kids a "new" dog... Fi-Fi would have to go if it were mine OR someone else would immediately be responsible for feeding/watering it and it for sure wouldn't be staying in my house. Is there a "mom" in the house that maybe "likes" it too? If so, it would be her 100% responsibility for it's well-being.

I personally despise all those little yep-yep, bred for "pets" tiny dogs. They ALL have an "attitude"... it's like some vertically challenged people who get the "little man syndrome"... they make up for it by being a BAD DUDE...

My wife had a mini-dachshund for almost 18 years, and I hated that dog with a passion. I did not feed it... did not care for it in ANY manner. It was utterly useless. She had to have it put down a few months back, and though I was very sad for my wife that day, I can honestly say I was not sad to be finally done with that dog. Sorry but that's just me.
