This drives me insane! I don't care who you are, if you are going to be late let me know and don't expect me to rearrange my day for your new time schedule.

I'll have to remember that next time.

Kind of like the testing the waters, no pictures, no prices, no location, and trade only ads on this and other websites.

It doesn't matter how big and bold you say no trades, people will always try to trade something worthless

I was trying to sell off some fairly inexpensive display equipment we didn't need anymore, posted pictures, prices etc. Got a reply right away that she wanted to buy it. Could I please put it on hold cause she couldn't get here till friday. Gave me her business name address and phone. Sounded real legit. I turned away three other folks for it. She calls Friday as I am waiting and says well it will have to be Tuesday. I tell her if not Tuesday the deal is off. She texts me Tuesday morning and says "well, I guess I'm going to have to pass on your offer......."

They all want it for free or can you throw in this or can I trade you that, oh I'm here to pick it up for 25% of what you asked, can you load it for me, and tie it down? Oh gee, now my pickup won't start, can you go borrow some jumper cables?

No more for me. I would just about throw it away first.

Ok it was a scam. Stupid Craigslist. I got a check in the mail with 3 different addresses between the check and postage. Also instead of $375 it was for $2450. The check looks like it was cut out with scissors on three sides.

I sent a text to the number that I have been communicating with and said the deal was off and I would destroy the fake incorrect amount check. Anything else I should do? Oh and spare the I told you soes my wife beat you to it

If there is a story behind this, then I don't want to hear it.

I sold a boat on CL a while back. I got the goofball trade offers, but sold it to a guy w/i 24 hours of listing it for $200 less than asking price. I gave him a little room to replace the batteries...and he had cash.

It's like comparing apples and organges. Both a fruit (internet) but it ends there. For something of value that people outside your immediate driving range may want to buy, eBay with a PayPal or Certifed (Bank) Check which must clear before shipping is more work but will generally get you a better return on time invested.

For an old kid's dresser that needs to be painted for $10 like a garage sale, CL.

Or for AR15 parts and accessories- in the SF Bay liberal lunatic asylum!
