    Im selling old couches currently on CL. Got a text message the night I put them up saying that he wanted them and he would send a check with additional money and have a moving company scheduled I will have to give them the additional money on arrival. I have agreed and am still waiting for the check??? HE will only communicate through text message which is fine but its very sketchy giving your address to someone you have never even been able to talk to on the phone.

    We shall see????

      I would be very leery of anything where you have to cash a check against your account and give someone else money. That is the number type of fraud I saw when I worked in a bank. I would require him to pay with cashiers check or money order, and he needs to pay the moving company. Just my .02.

              my favorite is when a buyer asks you "what's your lowest price you are willing to sell XYZ for"?

              Really? Who taught you the art of negotiation?

              I always reply with a figure $25-$50 higher than the listed price and if they ask why, I tell them it includes the stupid question fee.

                  I sell a lot of stuff on CL. I have pretty good luck avoiding scammers by posting , "Face to face, cash transactions only!" There are some whackos to deal with but for the most part I've had good luck avoiding them.

                    Dont ever get someone on your lease from craigslist. I made my decision on a good verbal talk over the phone from what seemed like the perfect response to my ad. sigh...

                      I've bought and sold from Craigslist. Had one guy sell a boat out from under me, but I also had another guy hold a boat for a week for me. I think the reason Craigslist is so unpredictable is that there's no accountability or buyer/seller rating like there is here and other forums. TGT suffers from the same thing.

                        Uh thats a scam. You cash check and give them extra money. They cancel check and you're screwed.

                          I'm trying to by a sweet bed frame from someone in tomball and they won't reply to any of my emails. I mean if they sold it already it would be nice to know or else I'm going to keep trying because I want that dang bed frame!!

                            When I put something on CL for sale, I will setup times to look at it. Everything is first with the cash gets it. If you have to drive to come get it and its gone when ya get here not my problem. I do let every appointment know this before they depart.

                            Nothing sold unless they have CASH MONEY.

                              my pet peeve are the people who list something for sale with no price. I would like to shake them & tell them how many potential buyers they lost because a lot of people think no price = high price. Classified ads really show you how sales retarded some people are.

                                Try putting an ad on the internet that you have a deer lease available and see what happens.

                                I posted one over 3 years ago on a different site and I STILL get phone calls about it. Even after I've gone back an posted that it's taken/leased.
