I work oilfield and everyone on my crew has switched from Red Wing to Ariat. My new pair is going on 4 months and look good as new on the inside. And other than beat and dirty, good on the outside.

I wear the waterproof (find them in a different section) square toe work hogs. They are holding up great. I do clean them about once every other week and put some polish on them. It doesn't keep them clean, and it's not about looking nice, but it will help the leather last longer, and keeping dirt out of the stitching makes it last longer. Care for your boots, and they will care for your feet

I also take the ariat insoles out and put in green superfeet insoles. Way more comfortable when you're on your feet all day.

I've got a new pair of steel/round toe Ariats and they seem like good boots but by the end of the day they really hurt hurt my toes. I sure hope I get used to them but I wish I'd have bought the ones without the steel toe.

My last pair did the same thing. I just took some scissors and cut what was rubbing and they were fine.

I had the same problem with ariat boots. I bought them at cavenders and they exchanged them twice and every time they did the same thing. Finally I went with Rocky and love them. They r the hybrid square composite toe.

I bought the Justin's square toe steel toes. The most comfortable boots I have ever bought as far as work boot. The Georgia brand boots are good too. Imo

Stay away from twisted x. I lovey Ariats. I had your problem with my twisted x. They didn't last 3 months. I am at almost a year on my Ariats and nothing is giving out yet.

I used to wear Ariats all the time and everyday. I am now wearing Justin again and Twisted x. I have one pair of Twisted x that I have had for 3 years and wore them everyday for 2 years and they are still comfortable. I bought a pair of square/steel toe Justins and have been wearing them for a year and they show little wear. I will be buying more Justin and Twisted x when the time comes

I have NEVER spent near 200 bucks for a pair of boots, but a lot of friends swear by them and they seemed to be a good quality boot. Boy.....was I wrong!!! Here I am, not even 3 months later, and the leather on the back of the boot, inside, where the heel rubs is worn through and the material is rolling onto itself and giving me blisters!!! These seem to be decent boots, but what I paid for them I am VERY disappointed!! Im headed to the store where I bought them tomorrow.....what else should I buy!?!??
Got mine in November '11 and they're going better than my Redwings...thinkin you got some lemons...

Never tried Ariats, but, in my world, it's just flat out hard to find a decent boot anymore. I bought the most expensive pair of Wolverine's that Academy had a few years back, and they felt awesome in the store. The next day, they hurt my feet so bad I gave them to my great-nephew. Within 3 mo. they were trashed. I liked my Rocky's but they discontinued that model. I've had decent luck with the TSC house brand boots (J.E. something?), and am currently wearing a pair of cheap Justin's. The best pair of boots I've ever owned was a pair of bullhide cowbot boots that I bought in Villa Acuna for $50. I wore those boots for over 10 years and had them resoled 3 times.

I guess you went for style points.

All I have for you is one word: Redwings.

Call me when they make a square toe. I need the extra room.
