My extended cab holds quite a bit in the mini backseat and allows me to have more bed space w/o having to drive a 95' long truck...
1 or 2 people can ride back there comfortably for shorter trips.

Get it if you can afford it!!! I don't have kids or a wife and I can't see not having a crew cab... I have owned both regular cabs and crew cabs and I will tell you regular cabs are for the cool high school kids with lifted trucks...

I have a crew cab and rarely put anything in the bed of the truck. All of my stuff goes in the back seat area. Get the crew cab.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Sounds like I should seriously look at the crew cabs.

The same could be said for bed space.

If the tacomas have the same sized bed in both crew and extended cabs, spring for the crew. If a crew would have a tiny bed, get the single or extended cab.

You will never regret having too much truck.

Only reason I have an extended cab is that a crew cab 1/2 ton Silverado has a short bed. If they would've had a standard bed, I would have a crew cab.

crew cab may ride a little smoother as well since it's a longer and heavier

Crew Cab x 1,000. If you need more bed, buy a tailgate bed extender. I will never buy a single cab or extended cab for a primary vehicle unless its due to monetary issues.

That extra space is like a pocket on a shirt..... really handy when you need it.
