Thanks...keep'em coming.
Have to admit I did not take into account the distance to the coast...it really should not be a factor today, but it was part of my being growing up along with falcon lake.
My sister is in SA but I would have to be way out from their traffic to stay sane. Is it too far from the coast?? I could deal with it, but we have a place in Laguna vista my great grandparents own I should use more often. Kinda hard to fish 1st class, deer hunt and own the lower Laguna madre with success with work
Who knows what the family will do with it, but I have buddies in port Mansfield too.

2 hours from SA to the salt... For us that live 7-8 hours from AP/Rockport, that's a hop, skip and a jump.

I too live in McKinney. If I could live anywhere it would be a coin flip between Portland, TX- quiet community outside of Corpus with great access to Port A and the surrounding coastal fisheries- plus only a couple hours drive to the big deer in South TX. Or I would live in the Hill Country. Close to Fredricksberg as possible. That being said, those would be my 2nd and 3rd choices. I love living in the DFW area. Still tons of great hunting within a couple hours and the wife stays sane being close to our families.

Been in the beautiful East Texas pineywoods all 26 years of my life. I've had the luxury of traveling for a living since 2008 and have seen just about everything. I wouldn't live anywhere in Texas south of Houston, or West of Terrell. However, if shat hit the fan, you could find me close to the Rockies in Colorado, or along the Columbian River somewhere in Oregon or Washington.
These choices are based on weather/hunting/fishing/food/people/sceneryLast edited by Sleepy; 04-02-2013, 10:22 PM.

I live in the Houston area. If I didn't work from home and had to fight traffic everyday I'd already be gone. Ideally I'd like to end up mid-coast. I was born in Corpus so probably somewhere in that area. Close to the coast is a must and that would put me much closer to the brush country. The 6 hour drives for a weekend hunt are getting harder every year. Hurry up and finish school, girls.
