Yep, just not sure which side you're on with that comment. HAHAHA. Am I defending the fact that I'm breaking the law by driving in the left lane while not passing, or are the speeders defending their speeding by pointing out that others aren't vacating the left lane? For the record, I do try to stay out of the left lane as much as possible, as I refuse to let my speedometer get above the speed limit (it does happen on accident occasionally, especially when driving Kaitlin's car, it doesn't ride like my truck does). That being said, when I do enter the left lane....say to pass slower moving traffic.....I don't increase my speed up to 15 over to get around them, I pass them at the posted speed limit, since they are going slower than the limit, I will get around them as long as I maintain the limit and they maintain the slower speed. I will, of course, move back into the right lane when I clear them fully, but I won't speed up to get around them. Those who get mad at me for abiding by the law, well, that's just dumb. The ones that really chap my hide are the drivers who will run up behind me in the left lane, while I'm legally passing someone, then before I feel comfortable to move back over, they cut off the driver I'm passing, just to pass me on the right. Once again, "Left lane for passing only." does not imply that it is okay to exceed the posted speed limit in that lane. In fact, technically, when driving on a two lane/two way roadway, and you come up behind a slow moving vehicle, you are allowed to pass when there is no solid yellow line on your side of the dotted center line....we all know that. Do we also all know that it is against the law to exceed the speed limit while passing in such a situation? It is. Now, most of the two lane roads I've driven on, there is no way to cross the center line, pass, and get back onto the correct side of the road before the "safe passing zone" runs out without exceeding the speed limit, so most everyone does. That "time's up" situation does not exist on interstates or other roadways where there are two lanes going in the same direction indefinitely, you can remain in that left hand lane for as long as it takes to get around the slower vehicle, therefor, there is no reason to increase your speed above the posted limit in order to get around that vehicle before the safe passing zone runs out.

Okster, if both are posted, and you fail to do one OR the other you are breaking the law as TVC (TBH's resident cop and law guru) has pointed out several times...

So next time your on the side of the road being issued a citation for driving in the left lane, you go ahead and tell that cop it's ok cuz you pay taxes. I will laugh hysterically as I pass by... Bc that ain't gonna fly bub....

But I **** sure won't honk and waive, I was told by an officer once that I couldn't do that even if it was my buddy being pulled over... No tickets, then but he sure scared me enough I won't do it again.

He said I could laugh my head off though... so I will do that.

The law hasn't changed. They are simply putting up warning signs.

I don't see any signs that say use your turn signal or dim your headlights but I have arrested people for it.

I don't know who you are but if I can move to the left to pass someone while I am going the speed limit, then you can just as easily move over to the right lane and go around if you want to go faster than me!

It is illegal to pass on the right unless the vehicle being passed is signaling left turn.

Get out of the left lane. I'm not even a big speeder, but good Lord some folks are real stubborn morons. Every morning I get tired of seeing some idiot in the left lane with a big long line behind him.

When driving to Yellowstone this past summer I noticed a huge difference in Colorado. Drivers actually showed a lot more respect for others and got out of the way ahead of time when they saw you coming.

It don't work on the 130 toll. People drive 70-75 in the left lane and are oblivious to what mirrors are used for. I flash my lights twice a day everyday to educate them. Some ignore it and I pass on the right. Posted speed is 80, just for reference.
