Took the boys out last night. Could see it with binos but not without. Thankfully there were a couple of nice fellas with a camera and telescope on tripods who let us take a better look. Neat stuff.
That must have been my problem...... Boys and I looked hard for a while but couldn't find it.
I tried to see it over a couple of hour time span last night and couldn't find it.
Do I understand correctly that it's a little North of due West (maybe 5 degrees)?
About how many degrees above the horizon and at what time?
Thanks
Here is a guide...
It continues to move toward the north every evening. It was very dim last night, that may have been due to my location though there weren't suppose to be any type of clouds around to obscure the view. I begin seeing it around 8:10 - 8:15 with the 10x42 binos. Seeing was not that great last night.
If you have a lot of light pollution it's going to be tough to see at this point I would think. Use the guide I posted to help in looking for it. You WILL have to use binos or telescope to find it. Good luck, should be around for a few more days.
Went Wednesday night out to the local nature preserve. They had telescopes set up but we got there to late to see the comet. We did get to look at Jupiter, the moon and lots of constellations. The guy had this awesome laser that he could point at the sky like he was pointing at a chalkboard! Wife and I had a blast. We are going out there tonight at sundown, can't wait!
It showed up better for us last night than the night before. I assume due to the lack of moonlight.
After you found it with binoculars you could see it with the naked eye easily.
