There is a fish hatchery about 10 miles outside of town as well if you are interested and don't forget about bass pro and the missouri wildlife museum out in front of the bass pro.

If Jim Stafford still has his show there....that is a must see. Of all the shows we saw...I enjoyed his the most. Got to talk to him at the break. He is a stand up, down to earth guy.

Went to Branson about 5 years ago. Had a good time.

However, I'm an old fart, but I ain't use to eating dinner at 4:30pm either. Eat early. Everything closes about 8:00pm.

          I'll probably go back when I'm 90+.

I wanted to go to his show bad but they were sold out for weeks. Be a good idea to get his tickets early!

              Bobby,

We took the kids to Branson in June '07 for vacation. My kids (13,10,6 at the time) loved Silver Dollar City. They really enjoyed the rides (big roller coasters and water rides like Six Flags) but also the artisans (glass blowing, potters, blacksmith, etc.)

We were at Disney World in January '07 and they liked SDC better. Tickets to DW were $1300, SDC was $400; Daddy liked it better too!

SDC has an RV campground and also cabins for rent. We stayed at a nearby RV camp, but would consider the cabins at SDC for lodging.

With a SDC ticket, you can access Celebration City (in town); it is an amusement park and midway. It was only open eveing hours when we were there, but the kiddos loved the rides.

We went to the 'Shepherd of the Hills' play. We had a chuckwagon dinner before the show with Sons of the Pioneers as entertainment. Kids liked the food and loved the play.

              Call me with questions.

Been going to Branson since before Branson was cool. Back when the Baldknobbers were the only show in town and you used to get bumper stickers plastered on your car without your consent. Have not been back in about 4 years.

                I recommend:

                Baldknobbers Jamboree
                The Presley's
Silver Dollar City (save $$ by buying combo tickets to CC and SDC and WW)
                Celebration City
                All the Go Cart Tracks
                Whitewater
Showboat Branson Belle (dinner and show cruise)
                Shepard of the Hills
                BPS in St Louis

                Dining

                Shorty Smalls BBQ
                Baldknobbers Restuarant and Buffet
                Any restuarant in SDC
                Starvin Marvin's
The Rails Catfish and Seafood Buffet
                Sadie's Side Board and Smokehouse

Get a map, or two, of Branson showing the back roads and stay off the main drag as much as possible.

I do not recommend the Marvel cave tour as they now literally "run" you through.

Two places that you have to visit,,,, Go to Springfield and hit the "Original" Bass Pro, they even have a sweet clearance center. This is far, far better than Katy or Pearland.

While in Springfield, stop at Andy's Frozen Custard, this place is great. Similar to the Ritter's off Fry Road but better in my opinion. They have a treat there but I forget the name, custard, pretzels and some chocolate and man is it tasty, especially if you are one of the sweet/salty people of the world. They also have "Concretes" which are the original Blizzard.

I got a great deal from BassPro about a year ago for $50 I got two nights hotel and a $50 bass pro gift card all I have to do is go see their fishing resort and take a 90 min tour. Unfortunatly the trip has been pushed back twice now. The awesome part is that the company offering the trip has been very courteous and helpful and has bent over backwards for us while rescheduling this trip. I can't wait to go lot of good info in this thread so far... keep it coming!

Hey Chew check out the following URL:

If you will put up with spending 90 min at the Bluegreen Resort (which as I understand is a fishing restort owned by BP) they will put you up in the Raddison in Branson for almost nothring..

The best time to go to Branson is right before Christmas. Not all the shows are there, but also not alot of people. We saw a minimum of two shows a day. Most of them we just walked in and bought tickets. The shops are getting ready to shut down for winter so they are selling all product for 50 to 90% off. I bought a 100% wool, imported sports coat for $9.00. We loaded the van down and I bet we didn't spend a total of $100.00 on everything.

You guys paying for a hotel?? Or have you already booked something?? I own a Silverleaf timeshare in Branson, and we might be able to book a June week. Not gonna be using it this year and I would be willing to look into what I would have to do to get you booked into it if your interested. PM me and let me know......I dont mind checking into it.

We have stayed there several times, and its a really nice set up. Close to town...etc...etc... Golf Course....Pool......areas for the kids.

I'd rather take 100 lashes with a wet, muddy, shoelace......

                              The only things I enjoyed.

                              1. Conway Twitty. If he weren't so dead, I wouldn't mind seein him again.
                              2. Bungee jumping. After 3 days in Branson, I was hoping for rubber band failure.
                              3. The original Bass Pro. It's way cooler than the rest.
                              4. Trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo (sp). Basicly just the river below Table Rock. Get a guide, don't attempt to swim....it's a kind of cold I can't describe.
                              5. Leaving.

How do you feel about retired people and traffic.......together?

branson is very cool. did the Bass Pro timeshare thing (and the tour is lot longer than 90 minutes) and got off cheap.

Jim Stafford's show is a must-see. an endless variety of stuff and very funny and very clean family entertainment.

saw a magician too - can't remember his name. he was good.

friend of mine says a trip is when you bring the kids and a vacation is when you go with just you and the missus. sounds like you'll be taking a TRIP to Branson!
