Anybody been to Branson? Need some input.

We're going to Branson, MO in June with some friends. We're booking hotels tomorrow. The wife has been researching some of the activities there and "we" appear to be interested in the following (we're taking small kids):
    • Whitewater
    • Silver City Amusement Park (or something like that)
    • Magic Show
    • Dixie Stampede
    • "Ride the Duck"

If ya'll have any input on some "must see" stuff, let me know. I'm into food so if you know any "must eat" places, hook a brutha up. Oh, if you have any hotel recommendations (we're looking at the Mariott Residence Inn), I'd appreciate that too.

    Thanks!

Inherited them through the wife. You know I'm an antisocial SOB.

My wife stayed at the Windmill inn there last year. Said it was nothing special.. A little cheaper but it had indoor/outdoor pools & nice rooms. Could walk to anything you wanted to.

Chew, my son and several Grandkids are there right now. Left this morning. They will be home Saturday. I'll let you know. They went to Silver Dollar City, I think.

I would also suggest Celebration Station. As far as eating DON'T eat at the peppermill or peppercorn restaurant. Also do dogwood city around Lampe. You can fish for trout catch and release or $3/pound to keep. Alot of history if you are into that. How old are your children?

The duck ride is a lot of fun - I have been there several times. I can't really recommend any particular restaraunts because most are chains. There are a ton of shows and it was a bit boring for me since I was sinle at the time, but there are some good fishing guides and spots to go around Branson. Also if you like to golf bring your clubs. Silver Dollar city reminds me a lot of six flags.

The wife and I went to Branson for the honeymoon, I'm not into the norm of beaches and blood thirsty stuff like that. The one thing I thought I would hate I liked the most and that was the Japanese fiddler I'm not even going to attempt his name. There were small kids there that seemed to enjoy it.

We spent three days in Branson with a reunion group and barely scratched the surface. Our group is still talking about the duck ride....I wouldn't miss that. The consensus of the group was the Yakof Smirnoff show was the best.

A good list of shows at http://www.bransontourismcenter.com/...edule-2008.htm
