DFW is getting a better selection due to the mass influx of Mexican Nationals. There used to be NO breakfast tacos back in the day in Dallas. Taco Cabana's everywhere ftw.

Everything at Monte's in Granbury is good. And make sure you get some green sauce to put on it. DEL NORTE in Godley is good also.

Yep. I consider breakfast tacos in TX the same (availability) as Boudin in Louisiana. Every corner store in my home town (New Iberia) had Boudin and Hot Links in the steamer behind the counter when I was growing up there. I move out of LA, and can't find the stuff anywhere! But breakfast tacos are the same in TX - they are everywhere you look.

My favoritet was "El Grande" from a little place in Lake Jackson/Clute area called Mendoza's. I'm not sure if it is even there any more, I think they were shut down more than once for health code violations.

I was eating a grande there when 9-11 happened.

I worked on ranches in south Texas when I was younger and ate a lot of tacos. Best ones were egg, potato and chorizo made by Mexican vaqueros, wrapped in foil and warmed over a mesuite fire in the pasture while we tried to stay warm on cold winter days. Thick, chewy tortillias make all the difference. Beats any store-bought Ive ever had.

I will tell ya one you need to try if ever in South Texas. The Laredo Taco Company. They are in most Stripes. They are huge and you can put 15 things in there if you want. It's all in view so you can say some of that and some of that and some of that. I usually go with beans, choripapas, bacon, eggs and cheese.

they got them here in houston as well . seems to be popular as i see they started building some more stores . i also go to one near clay and blalock in houston they also make the tortillas by hand not sure of the name its next to the biker bar.
