This might be the funniest thing ever on TBH.
Surely you do know???

It's easy enough for members who have been around for awhile to navigate through different forums, threads and topics, knowing which topics (and sometimes which members) to avoid. Unfortunately, it's not so easy for first-timers to get an immediate feel for the site if they come to Around the Campfire and within the first 25 topics they see six AR related threads, four Johnny Football thread, three gun control article links, a few of the "latest" jokes or pictures that I saw eight times on my FB a couple of days ago...you get the idea.
It's a delicate balance, and I feel like it is my responsibility (with help of moderators and members) to sometimes "nudge" it in the right direction when I feel like the is becoming something I don't want it to be. (I also admittedly go through phases where I have more or less time to devote to "clean-up" than other times.)
Nothing additional has been banned or placed off-limits. Just requesting quality over quantity.
I'll admit it, this pretty much sums it up. I think gun control took the place of, "which broadhead do I use?". This statement makes me laugh... at least there is no more chupacraba or pea gravel talk anymore...

I have an idea. Some other forums I belong to have a sub forum that is dedicated to rants, grips, whinning, and other bs they want to keep out of the rest of the civil forums up stairs. You could call it "The Dungeon" You could appoint a new moderator as the "Dungeon Master" whose job it would be to crack the whip when necessary. When someone post something up stairs that is off topic or out of line tell them to take down stairs then deleate their post. This way we have a place to vent and blow off steam. You can have special rules for the Dungeon and make it off limits to non members. In fact you can block it so non members can't even see it.....just an idea ~ SgtRockLast edited by SgtRock; 01-09-2013, 09:33 PM.

I don't care much about photography, recipes, rate the day lease, "score this buck", "age this buck", 3d shooting, African hunts, truck restorations, fishing trips, sticker sightings, "which phone should I get", "which truck should I buy", Johnny Football, etc, etc, etc.
So...I typically don't read those. Not terrible hard to scroll over a thread, read the first few lines, and move on if I'm not interested. HOWEVER, at one time or another, whether searching or just perusing, I have found interesting and/or useful information in almost all of the thread topics or forums mentioned above. I think the variety of coversation from like minded individuals is what makes TBH such an enjoyment for me.
And it is seasonal. The hunting and specifically bowhunting threads everybody so craves tend to ramp up during and prior to seasons. Other times we are all doing different stuff and so the coversations and activities go different directions.
Michael, congratulations and I'm sorry. You've created your own monster. I love bowhunting and firearms (and all kinds of other neat stuff). You've fostered the best online community for me and those like me and, as such, I'd rather discuss all of my interests and concerns here with like minded, diversified, level headed folks as opposed to going to a specified firearms forum where every key board jockey thinks he is a commando/swat/ninja/sniper.
I realize that my input is less valuable because I'm a young buck, I wasn't in on the ground floor, I read more than I talk on here, I don't go to Bownanza every year, and I don't take a smart phone to the bathroom or deer blind with me so as to not miss anything on TBH. Hmm...how about the regular rant threads about how the new guys ruined TBH?
