He's got a mutt he thinks is train to blood trail but in reality is a common fleabag that occasionally barks as deer are approaching. The "hunter" pulls out his "as seen on TV" grunt tube and blows on it for the next hour and a half. At this point Barney is tired of hunting and start picking up leaving a bunch of trash behind. Yep that's ol Barney. Barney he is usually one of those yuppie sub division types. for the record, we still hunt public and still kill tons of ducks. Should break 700 tomorrow. Been pounding stale birds lately, hopefully we get some fresh birds in the next week.
Lol @ your deer comparison, that's why I only deer hunted public land twice ever.

But why pull it all that way when a simple little boat and some walking is less a hastle and does the same job??[/QUO

Im calling you a barney because your crying about public duck hunting. You are the one who came and set up on him because your crew cant wake up on time. Big surprise someone else wanted to hunt public land. Pony up some cash for private or dont get your feelings hurt when someone comes to hunt there that has just as much right to it as you do. Everybody has google earth. There are no secret spots. Or you can do what we used to do in the 90's, just burn their blinds, cut the fuel hoses off there boats, make flat tires common. Thats how we protected our stuff when it was just crazy good, if you werent from around here, you probably werent going to come back. Public duck hunters are ruthless as stated above. But crying?, theres no crying in duck hunting.
I guess you remember the fires on the north end of trinity too!! No crying in duck hunting...I like that! They surely wouldnt have made it around here 15 years ago!

If I had to give up deer or ducks, it would be deer. Fortunately I do both pretty much constantly. Think about all the purely ridiculous amount of money spent on deer hunting. That should put it in perspective, how many shots do you take a year on deer? Ducks are way more action packed. Besides you share the blind with your buddies and b.s. all morning in between flocks. Get to watch your dog work and run down cripples. Requires more skill than shooting a deer standing still at a feeder. Some people love it others don't care for the mud, heat, mosquitoes, alligators or other extremes like rain and cold.

I guess you youngster's wouldnt understand spending countless hours during the summer driving posts into the bay floor, brushing and rebuilding blinds countless time's due to tropical storms or hurricanes to show up to hunt the blind you have slaved over to keep up for years on end and some punk kid is sitting in it thinking he owns it and wont leave. I mean, c'mon, if I get in an empty blind and the owner shows up to hunt I would gladly collect my gear and be gone! That wasnt usually the case with the city slickers coming out here in my back yard! Dang right they wont want to come back when Im done with em! I will say ive never cut fuel lines of tires but I have swole a few head's and burnt a blind or two!

No we are ok. I always liked an old tire with some kerosene in the bottom. That'll leave you with 4 little wet black stubs sticking up. Crazy times. I used to love when people drove in from Houston not knowing where they were going to hunt or anything and try to follow you. I'd always leave the old gou hole ramp and veer left, my go devil would keep going but the lights would always stop behind me. And I'd hear wahhhh wahhh wahhh, then no engine. That old gou hole ramp and the North wind did a lot of the work for us back then. I miss the old days when it was all still farms and no people out here.

Its one of those things that unless you grew up out here and lived through it you'd understand. Hell, Bonesplitter I thought you were a real nice guy that day I ran across you at the gas station.

How can you be sure they are the 'owners' and not someone laying claim to their secret spot in public land?
Seems like risk of putting all that work in on public land to have someone else who got up earlier sitting in it..is just that..a risk you know your taking.. ..
Maybe leave the boxing gloves and matches at home and set the alarm a little earlier in order to protect your investment would work better?

dang...this duck hunting is serious business. Public land hunting in Texas seems to be a bit crowded.....pass.
