I like this thought, just out of curiosity what is the very best compact revolver ?

This is exactly why my wife has a Taurus 606 hammerless .357 Magnum revolver loaded with hollow points.

I'm not sure if I would have a chambered round or not...prolly not. I mean, what are the actual chances of you EVER having to use that weapon? How many LEO go a full career and NEVER need to pull their gun out of their holsters? I guess I'm just gun shy after my neighbor's life changing ordeal.

I'm on board with this guy's way of thinking. Maybe I'm a little gun shy too. Heard to many horror stories/accidents with kids. I believe each and every one of you have the right to carry a loaded gun if you feel the need to, I'm jut not sold on the idea that it makes you any safer.

There is nothing dangerous about it! The gun in my truck is loaded and over half the guns in my safe are loaded!
An instant isn't a long time to think about using deadly force - hope you've got good judgement.

I was there and I have known him since he was in high school. It was a terrible accident and I agree that extreme care should be taken with loaded firearms at all times. I carry with one in the chamber when I carry. I have had to pull my gun but thankfully never had to use it. Just showing it to the guy that was planning on mugging me was sufficient to discourage him and he hauled tail. Let me add that I was prepared to pull the trigger had he taken another step toward me. I had plenty of time to chamber a round if I had been carrying with an empty chamber. I prefer to carry hot some prefer to carry cold everybody has their own preference and I respect each persons decision. My kids were raised around firearms and my grand kids are being raised around them. I taught my kids and am teaching my grand kids to respect the power of a loaded gun and to treat each one as if it were loaded. I took the curiosity value out of my guns because my kids and grand kids were and are allowed to shoot them on a regular basis. It is my belief that hiding firearms away from children causes the curiosity value to go way up therefore I make sure my kids and grand kids get to see and handle my guns on a regular basis. They are taught strict firearms safety and how to properly handle any firearm I have.

So I assume no one should carry a weapon that has a manual safety as well. In the heat of the moment....you don't want to have to think about flipping the safety off either....
I doubt the weapon discharged by it's self..........

Was sweeping out the garage yesterday with my almost 2 year old son... he was "helping". He said OOK Ruff Ruff... I look up and a strange dog is walking up on us... I wasnt carrying, had the truck pulled out of the garage and my LC9 was in it...

I had a broom and myself between the dog (still on approach) and my son. As I stood there judging my options and my opponent I realize he meant us no harm... but also realized I wished I was carrying a gun instead of a shop broom (which I was now wielding in my best Beverly hills ninja). We simply walked back into the safety of the house through the garage door. Even unloaded in that situation would have been better than not carrying at all.. We recently had a pit bull attack in our neighborhood (few blocks over) and one had to be put down.

Just weird we were just discussing this... so I thought I'd share. Carrying is a better option than NOT.

This is a good post, but kids are taught right from wrong and still occasionally do wrong. I have yet to hear about a chl holder that has accidentally shot his self or anyone else.

I haven't seen a manual safety yet that took two hands to disengage. Either hand can be disabled and you can still operate a safety in short order. Charge a weapon rapidly with only one hand in a two or three second incident?
