Chl poll...Do you carry with a round chambered?

I don't, was always taught that way. I got a buddy that always has a round chambered, while he is carrying or even if his gun is in his truck.

I personally think it is dangerous. LEO's are an exception of course.

Yes, I always do. If something goes down I don't want to have to think about racking the slide

If it comes to the point where you need to shoot all you have to do is say "wait, I have to chamber a round, ok now we can play". If it ain't ready to go, then there is no use carrying it. My .02 worth

Yes. If I have to use my weapon, I want every advantage I can get. Every second counts and an unloaded gun is nothing more than a paper weight.

I don't always admit to owning or carrying a firearm, but when I do.. its loaded.

                    Short answer is yes.

If I need to use deadly force I want to shorten the time it takes to get a shot off as much as possible. It could be the difference between life and death. That's the reason people work on their draw cycle, to get on target as fast as possible. Last thing your want to do is be fumbling around trying to get a round chambered while an armed person is running towards you.

Just curious why LEO's are okay to carry with a round chambered?

Yes, it was how I have been trained and train others to carry....the only safety you need is a brain....and training of course..

I also know others that were trained to carry cold bore and with enough training and practice you can get off a shot just as fast as most people that carry hot...

Its all how ya practice and train and the ergonomics of the human body

My 380 has a long enough trigger pull that I always carry it chambered.

It's supposed to be dangerous. It's a gun.
