The union played a high stakes game of chicken and lost. Most likely, some company (probably a big foreign one) will step in and buy the various brands along with all the assets. Problem is though, what kind of leverage will the workers have in any labor negotiations now? The liquidation will void any contracts with the unions and there are are heck of a lot of people out there looking for work.

A lot of the products are made right here. Bimbo primarily wanted Mrs Bairds for their distribution network I think more than products.
