Just pulled this thread up for a refresher and thought I'd bump.

Great Bump again guys... I just spent this weekend sharing this exact thing to a buddy of mine that hunts in South Texas. His son was chasing a deer, and ultimately got him. He sent me a pic from the deer on the hoof, and the LDP. He asked me shoot him a score, and he was going to measure once he got back to the ranch.
I estimated his deer @ 163.5, and when he scored it he came up with 162 and change.
He told me I was "dead-on" and I told him I had a pretty good teacher, and explained the TD scoring method to him. His ranch, on his mature deer, they are usually a little heavier, and usually a little beamier (is that a word), so I told him to use 100, or so on his bucks.
His son's deer was 48 in beams, 19 wide, and 36 in mass (both bases were over 5), so his down was 103 and change.
Anyway, great thread... Always cool to see you guys saying nice things about TD, he was one of the best men I have ever met, and certainly one of the smartest. His outdoor knowledge, all things, was off the charts. The campfire conversations after the evening hunts were my favorite, lots of information and lots of BS spread around!!!
Hard to believe it was over 7 years ago, when we lost him. Crazy...

I have used this many times and works well. I have even started with my base 90, and just quickly add up one side, then look to see if opposite looks about the same. For example, using my base of 90, I know I need 30" of tines on one side to get to 150" deer assuming the other side comes close to matching.
