Tuthdoc scoring

I used this over the weekend and think all new members could benefit from Tuthdoc’s scoring system. Worthy of a bump.

I was lucky enough to learn this method directly from Tuthdoc and still use it on every buck I look at today. I can't believe I learned it from him almost 20 years ago!

I use this method on just about every age and score thread here as well as hunting. I use 85-87 down at our place in Brown/Comanche Co. But I have a spreadsheet tracking all mature deer we have shot that averages out the down score. So as we shoot more deer I'll hone in on a more exact average. As of right now our average down on bucks scoring 130 or better is 86 7/8". So far that has worked for me.

Continuing to have impact - I measured the down on all the trophies we take off our place after originally reading this thread, have that average and only count up on the hoof - it works great! Good stuff Dale!

Doc was a legend. His knowledge of deer and their habits was always spot on. As far as the up/down its probably the easiest and fastest ways to get an idea of what a deer will score.

This method with 80 down works great in my neck of the woods. It's a great quick method.
