    308 vs 30-06 for T/C Encore

i am thinking about selling my Savage 270 WSM and getting another barrel for my T/C. looking at 280 - 30-06 calibers. what say yall? i like the 308 just because its a proven round, not saying the others arent but there is a reason the 308 was used for so many years as a sniper round. as for ballistics arent they about the same? please eduacate me.
    Thanks

30-06 all day long (if 7 mag isn't another option)

308 just because of milder recoil.

.308 There is a reason that the snipers use it. Accurate, consistent, light recoil, large range of bullets, devastating results and it's cheap to shoot. What's not to love.

.308 so versatile, and you can make some crazy Accenture hand loads. But if you go .280 you can go with some very heavy bullets i shoot a 175 gr hand load in my 7mm and a 165 sierra game king in my .308

Check the twist rate on TC barrels and pick the one that shoots the weight of bullet you are looking to shoot. My bet says they have one twist per caliber Your alternative is to order a Bullberry barrel in caliber and twist of choice.

it'll mainly be used for deer so a 165-180 gr bullet will be more than enough. what is a good twist rate for something like that?

I just got a 30-06 in the encore, I have only put 12 rounds through it and was hitting right where I wanted. Have shot both the 280 and 308 an loved both em. As 30-06 is one of the most popular rounds of all time ammunition can be found everywhere. When I read marine sniper they talked about using either 30-06 or 308. Have killed 2 deer at about 4 hundred yards with the 280. The only reason I chose the 30-06 was it was about the only caliber my close friends and family didn't already have in the TC.
So in short I have no real advice lol...except you can't go wrong with any of them, have fun with the new barrel
