      Coach
Here are pics of the rifle and of my shot group from friday. I put a hammer spur on it when i made this change and i really like the spur. makes it much easier to cock, almost natural. I zero my rifles at 25, knowing what they will hit at 100 or 200 yards. of course all this gets confirmed and minute changes are made at the greater distance but it usually gets me very close. i changed from a 200 yrd zero to a 100 yrd zero about halfway through breaking in the barrel. So the spot where my finger is, is where i need to be for 100 yrd zero. I used Federal Matchkings to Zero and according to the ballistic table i needed to be ~1/2 inch low at 25 yds so i think it'll be pretty close. every thing above bullseye was for 200 yds and everything below was for 100 yards.
I shot 50 rds through it friday night and my shoulder was not sore at all. the next day it was slightly sore but i have not shot a 50 rd group in a long time, so i was impressed by the pro-hunter stock.

it's the round the .30 caliber round is very versatile, from the ..308 to .300wm the 30-06 fall in the middle and was one of the military's original sniper rounds fro long rang shooting, for any north American game you can use any of the .30 caliber setups it kinda of the all round cartridge. myself i like the .300wm when i want to reach out and touch something and still have a lot of energy leftover.

Very nice, does your action have any trigger work done to it?

yea i agree about the 30 cal, i had a 300 WSM, but i just dont have the oppurtunity to make those long shots and **** it could be a bear to shoot. so i went with the 308 knowing it has limitations, but is a proven round. i dont have a doubt it'll do anything i need it to.

I will say this about Match Grade Machine, they were VERY easy to deal with and got me the barrel quickly. They are a little higher than barrels like Bergara and the T/C, but they use Shilen and Green Mountain barrel blanks. I dont know if the other two are made in the US, but these are entirely made in the USA. this was honestly part of me not minding paying a bit more. This barrel is the heavy contour bull barrel and fit on the normal forend. i was a little worried that my scope would hit, but it was fine.

30-06 is a hard round to beat here in east texas brush. If your gonna get the 7mm, you might as well get the 300 win mag. IMO

That's some good shooting so far, those groups will tighten up quite a bit once you get that trigger worked on...makes a HUGE difference.

Sweet! I sent an action to bullberry and they do an AWESOME trigger job.

I picked up another action off the classifieds last night and when it comes in its going straight to bull berry for the same trigger job.

I will be picking up a 308 rifle barrel to be threaded, and a 223 pistol barrel as soon as i find someone willing to part with em.. The encore platform is sweet!!!

                      And addictive.. Be careful

i bought this one with a 22-250 pistol barrel, but due to a bitchy uncle in law (my wifes uncle) i cant use the pistol barrel. probably because we got into the argument that a 22-250 was not enough gun for a deer shot that is literally 75 yards at most. I had a smart comment back that his 200 gr 30-06 might be a little heavy for this type shot. we dont get along that well. he just acts like a .... nevermind. Coach your right they are addictive.

Well I've dropped plenty of deer with my 14" 223 contender barrel... Out to 200 yards.

I will have to find some pics so you can tell him that he can hunt with whatever he wants and you will do the same.

At least your in laws hunt... Mine always try to take me to get Pedicures (no offense keegles) but that ain't my sort of thing. They schedule dumb crap during deer season and then get butt hurt when i don't show.

+1 on Match Grade Machine. I had them build a 1:8 twist 18" 308 barrel for my silenced encore and they threaded the barrel to boot. Frat shooter and a top notch platform for a silencer!

The only thing that i am having issues with is about every third shot when i release the barrel to pull the cartridge the barrel gets stuck about halfway so i have to close it and snap it open. i dont know if this is because its new and the spring might be a little tight or what. any one else have this problem?
