I don't shoot a doe that still has her fawns with her. A doe that has lost her fawn will be in much better shape and have more meat on her.

The one slightly quarting away, with front leg forward and head down chewing corn so as not to be able to hear me draw. ...... Seriously the old smart one with her nose in the air

Skillet heads only for me.. I see no need to shoot the bottom end out of the deer herd.

I'll always take the mature doe.

The older ones are more likely to drop twins as the young, or first year breader is more likely to only throw a single fawn. That being said, I still usually go for the biggest available. With what I have been seeing on the lease, I may have to take whatever I can find.

May not make much of a difference, but our thinking is if we shoot a doe with a fawn, make sure the fawn is a doe as well. If she has a button buck with her, she gets a pass. Hopefully the button will make it and be our future 5 yr. olds.

But like I said above, a stomping snorting doe gets taken out regardless. A doe with twin fawn's is a valuable deer in my book, leave her alone!
