    which to shoot?

This is a delimma I struggle with: a mature doe and her yearling come in. Would you shoot the momma, the yearling, or neither? Reasons for your answer?

Okay, sorry about that...poor terminology on my part! Big, old doe or young small doe.

If We are needing deer meat, which we eat a lot of, I'll shoot the first mature doe that comes within 28 yards of my bow. I want shoot any doe that isn't mature.

I def pick the pain in the rear doe first, after that it is just the biggest of the group or best shot

Take out the mature one... More meat and plenty tender...

I'd shoot the bigger, older one because I'd want more in the freezer. Plus they are usually harder to kill, which makes it more fun.

                  X2.

Shoot the one that blows and scares the rest off, then take out the older ones.

I only take the older mature doe. More meat and no reason to take a small one when you can let it grow and take it the next year for more meat.

there is a guy I work with that shoots a very small doe every year.... says they are the best eating.... I will not shoot a doe if it comes in with a yearling.... that's just me.... when I do shoot a doe, I go for the older ones!

This is what I do. Young, old or middle aged I dont care. Stomp and snort and see what happens!

What if your oldest doe looks like this? Would anyone recommend eating something that old? I almost feel obligated to take her out of her misery.
