Nice pics of the hounds. I hate to hear the news.

Antihunters are actively working across the country and abroad to end any and all forms of hunting. It's a sad thing...they will never be satisfied until no person, anywhere is allowed.

GH68, he looks like I should know him? hard to say for sure its been years since I was in that country. I'm lookin forward to going back. I just hope I don't spend 2 days in the bottom of Grindstone on some mean walking bear. Come to think of it I know whats down there, been down there far more times than I care to remember. so no reason for me to go this trip I'll send HogDaddy he's never seen it..

Sounds like fun, PM me with trip details when you have them. Salinas is an hour south, an agricultural town, my daughter lived there but the gang violence and hearing gunshots at night made her move locally.

Gilroy (garlic capital of the world) is 1/2 way between, is where MY archery shop is located, and there's a place across the street with the best NY style pizza around, and really cold beer. You should see Predators Archery- looks like any TX archery shop with lots of animal mounts on the walls.

Be sure when you see friend to drive west on 68 through mountains to Monterey Bay, or if time permits drive south 30 minutes to Big Sur. It's amazing.

On other comments, I don't think the bear/hound guiding business is really large in CA, but to one guy who's a guide with hounds it's bad.

Also, I've never heard or read about CA hiring anybody especially to kill cougars. True, GWs and Sheriffs occasionally shoot them if they're in a residential area and considered a threat- but they were getting paid for the shift anyway.

I've bumped cougar about 5 times within a mile of my home over the past 17 years I've hunted around here including once a cat eating a deer was screaming at us from a tree line. They do t bother me, I carry a 45 backup gun with me more for a run in with an aggressive pit bull or German Shepard, or some gang banger trespassing where I'm hunting with a negative attitude.

That sucks to hear about the law being set in place, but hopefully you can atleast have a good, successful trip.

I remeber when dog hunting got outlawed in Oregon. I was living there and my buddy was into hunting with hounds. After the ban bear hunting in Oregon to most became "buy a bear tag incase you run into one." I didn't meet one dedicated bear hunter after that.

The cougar population went through the roof also.

The cougars killed so many elk in Umatilla NF you could not shoot elk calves as they were trying to stabilize the elk population.

Typical left wing crap! They think they are doing right, when in reality they just hurt everything. We all need to vote to get them out of office! Haha I would like to hear one positive outcome from a liberals mouth that doesn't cause negatives in other ways!
