    LEFT WINS AGAIN in Cal.

I just bought my plane tickets to go on my last bear hunt with my Pop. he has been guiding bear hunts in nor cal & oregon for the past 45 years. most of you probably don't know this but recently out in Cal. the libs sucsessfully passed a bill stopping the hunting of Bears and Bobcats with hounds. it makes you wonder who's next?? this will be the last season for the hound men and you can bet it won't be coming back. we hunters have got to stick together because devided we fall!! the left is willing to fight for there nonsense ideals and we typically feel like we don't have time becasue we're too busy taking care of our family, Lives and jobs. how many hunters do you know that think their vote doesn't mean anything? I know several, we've got to get proactive or we stand to loose it all. don't think it can only happen in Cal.. Oregon lost their hound season about 15 years ago never to see it return. carry on

Yes I agree, and I have a hunting buddy at work that has never voted at 45 and refuses to vote because his 1 vote wont matter...

I think Cable was talking about this a while back if I remember correctly. You are certainly right on many levels. We need to fight for our hunting rights becasue nobody else is going to do it for us. Thanks for posting this.

20 years ago I pooh-poohed this ever happening. But mommas ain't letting their babies grow up to be cowboys any more.

And Buckaroo's right. Divided we fall.

The first election I voted in an election, a County Commissioner won by 2 or 3 votes. Four years later he won by 1. Your buddy's vote counts.

Some of my favorite memories are deer drives when I was young

              i agree.

they outlawed dogs close to 30 years ago in texas. all the east texas boys thought the world ended.

i wonder if they outlawed dogs in cali for the same reasons they did in texas?

Yep it's a sad deal indeed. I would expect this out of a liberal leaning state like Cali- but to see this heritage go away- one that has been a part of California sportsmen for over 150 years is a tough pill to swallow no matter what state. HSUS is behind this and they won't stop here. This is a huge victory for them and we should be aware that they do have power whether or not we want to admit it.

Never had any experience hunting with dogs or deer drives but from stories I have heard it is action packed. I personally enjoy my role as a solitary hunter but hate to hear of any type of hunting rights lost regardless of my personal preferences.

If Cali was given to Mexico I'd be ok with it..

Washington outlawed hound hunting for bears and cougars during the Clinton administration. They also outlawed baiting for bears on the same ballot. Fortunately, Washington isn't quite as liberal as Cali, they realized the error of their ways about 5 years later and now allow hound hunting for cougars in certain areas (eastern) of the state.

I'm mad because the decision was made by the state legislature and not the DFG, but I can still hunt black bear here with a bow or rifle from a tree or spot and stalk. 1,700 black bear will be taken again this year in CA.

I would like to point out the fact that Austin is just like silicon valley and that Houston has a lesbian mayor in her second term. here in Texas we aren't as conservative as we like to think we are or at least the conservatives don't seem to be voting in certain elections. For Now! Bill, I remember not so very long ago when they had archery hunting for bears stopped. I believe it was for 2 season wasn't it?? the point is just because a guy doesn't own a pack of hounds doesn't mean this wont have an effect on him as a hunter down the road. somebody is next.. you can bet on that

It was NJ that stopped the bear hunting. I don't remember a halt on bear here. During archery deer season it's now only for bear, then during general deer it's firearm or bow.

Fishing is a right in the CA constitution, hunting is not. Every year I'm thankful the idiots have not banned it. I tell most people I hunt, and have met some who've said they couldn't do it, but very few who got upset and argued with me.
