Start with a versatile pair that you don't feel bad about actually using and getting dirty. Then later get you a pair of exotics. Ostrich, gator, etc.

It's all about what fits your particular foot. Just go try on a bunch of pair. Square toes are typically much more comfortable than the classic pointed toe or round toe. Then there's leather vs rubber soles. I love leather, but there is the occasional resole expense. Worth it to me.

Square toes are way out of style, roach getters all the way.

Try on both... I just bought a pair of the square toed Ariats. The first pair of every day walking around boots I have been able to wear since I broke my back. I was skeptical at first but I love those wide toes

Another voe for Ariat. I would rather wear them than my running shoes. Comfort level is insane.

I know we all buy Chineese made trash all the time, but cowboy boots should be the one good we buy that is made in Texas or at least the USA. I like Justin, Tony Llama, Luchasee, and Anderson Bean. Any of them will work. Go to Cavanders and get to looking.
Hate to disapoint but becareful of your justins and tonly llamas some of there boots are made in china too. I say black jack boot there is no point in not spending good money when it comes to boots. i know the cavenders i worked at we could measure your foot and get a really good fit for you. but Black Jacks fit like a Luchasee. They can make you any boot out of any material you can think of and they will last twice as long as any AB. sorry but I feel AB is a poorly made boot for the price you are payin. when you can get a good pair of Black Jacks around the same price that will last longer. but just like buying a new bow, try on anything and everything to see what fits you they best and most comfortable they will all fit different even the same company boots will fit different. my .02

Ariats are great for the money. I bought a pair of H and H and trying them out now. So far they seem like great boots for the money.
